Well, they have had several appeals over the years which were shot down and I believe this play by the prosecution freed them from lawsuits for wrongful imprisonment and doesn't make them look as incompetent as they were. One of the three didn't want to take the plea but because Damien was on death row they agreed to take it and continue to work to clear their names from the outside.
Ugh! Just found their website. What a horrible, horrible thing. I am very impressed with their drive and fortitude. I can't imagine how nightmarish this whole process has been for them. There just aren't words for these sorts of injustices.
