Mrs. Moreorless and I were on the beach at Nags Head the other day, enjoying the sun and meandering up and down the beach picking up nice little sea shells. Occasionally I would venture too far into the surf and a wave would slap me. No big deal as I'm in my swim suit, so what's a little water here and there. Only problem was my MINI's key was in my pocket. And my pocket was deep, therefore way down on my thigh. And the pocket was fairly full of WET SEA SHELLS as well as wet from the WAVES slapping me and the occasional submergence. So, carefull not to touch any of the butttons, I slowly removed the WET key from me pocket and laid it on the beachtowel in the hot NC sun. For about 5 hours. Turning it twice I think. Went over to the MINI......pushed the unlock button.....and it worked. Rats!! I was looking forward to a few more days "stuck" on the beach with me honey. ....Les
It's too late now, but you could always hope for the salt to corrode some of the electronics. You can kick back at the beach and wait for it to happen.
In those immortal words of Carole King to James Taylor back in '71...... "And it's too late, baby, now it's too late"
Hmmmm.... I wonder if MINI anticipated wet conditions for the key? If you believe the advertisements for the Vert and the goofy Openmeter. Maybe the key is water resistant?
I wonder...just like a cell phone...if you put it a bag of rice overnight it will dry out and work again?
Hydrolized Cell Phone My son dropped his cell phone in a bucket of water. It went all the way to the bottom. He quickly retrieves it and attempts to use it. NADA. Just before he launches it through the wall, I grab it, open it up,battery out, hair dryer x5min,works like a charm.:cornut: Jason
