Yeah, I took mine off the GP, with her lowered clearance I couldn't go in and out of any parking lot with any sort of angled entrance/exit. I've had the car on the track 3 times since with no ill effects. But I haven't crossed 107mph yet, so maybe they only activate at higher speeds I consider them to be early warning devices for ground clearance issues.
