What did I do with my mini today?
Just got it back from the shop after having to spend $7,400 to have a used engine installed after the freeze plugs blew allowing coolant into the engine. Mini's reply: It's not under warranty!!! First and last mini I'll ever own.-

I'm lucky I happened to be working on something else and noticed my wheel was soaked. Crashton was right, I dodged a serious bullet. She coulda blown up on the highway! A replacement engine woulda meant replacement car (or truck) for this cat.

I just saw that this morning when I went to look up a part for my mother-in-law's Clubman. The shop that did the carbon blasting called this morning to tell me that after putting the car back together it was running ruff. They did a smoke test and found a cracked charge pipe. She is looking up the price of the pipe and going to call me back. I am not happy at this point! I am waiting to see what they say but that pipe was fine till they pulled it off for the blasting.
Up date! They said 169 for the part! I can get it for about 30 less. They said they wont use a part I but! really pisses me off!!!! I know its just $30 and I am being cheep but still. I asked if they are charging labor she said they are not inclined to.........Damn right!!!
Oh also asked them to look at the sun roof. They said it may be a pressure switch but they dont want to fool with it till it spring because of the temptress. That will be too late.
This is why I do my own work!
Rant over!-

Drove my Mini to work a couple of days this week. Just tucked it back in the garage where it will stay nice and warm.

Said fair well to our clubman. We had some good adventures with it. Nothing like an engine fire while driving to work...

The Root cause was it’s a second Gen. They do that from time to time.

It appears even low mileage 2006 and clean R53s are not making good value on BAT or maybe this is good value, thoughts?
