Even if you dipped aluminum in liquid nitrogen it wouldn't shatter or become embrittled because it doesn't have a ductile to brittle transition no matter how cold it gets. Copper and gold are the same way.

Excellent news! MINI will cover the $1300 cost of the new pump! I'll pay about $450-ish for labor, shop fees and the pressure hose. My advisor there really went above and beyond for me. She's not gone in to limp mode since last Friday, but will still be getting a new HPFP tomorrow.

Excellent, how low is your MINI, good news on the HPFP. I thought these units were covered under a 100K negotiated extended warranty due to recalls and issues?
