My homestay student's dad is in town so I took him around town in my MINI. Then as a birthday gift, he went and bought me a new MINI convertible :biggrin5:

Every MINI should have a Whalen shift machine! Nicely weighted & a joy to hold while shifting through the twisties.

I know better, never won more than a buck or 2 on a lottery ticket. I'm just lucky I have a "job" I enjoy so much when so many others toil away.

:cornut: I'm going to the post office to pick up my 1st cell phone which is supposedly tricked out with all of the gadgets. Tonight I'll call my grand daughter such that she can teach me how to use it.:Thumbsup:

Wished I was driving it instead of the family accord. My four year old said "I wish we could have taken daddy's car instead". That car has no personality, and doesn't corner all that well either. However it is more reliable than most of our kitchen appliances.

Yesterday drove from 11 degree NJ to 58 degree NC! Today it's 70 here and the de-salting task of Dr. Phibes has begun!

:cornut: Yesterday actually(you know Jason, always late and in the wrong attire). Checked all of the fluid levels and power washed the engine and bay. Scrubbed all of the nicotine from the inside of the windows. Improved the air flow and decreased back pressure of the PCV system(Metalman approved) but remained within the guide lines of Fed Regs. Went through the car wash. Went for a TX country lane drive with eyes peeled and escaped a 'raccoon ambush.'

Not bad....it took a couple of hours but you have to consider that I don't fit up under the dash very well. I'm glad no one was shooting a video!

Haha on the original. It gets 5k oil services. Installed a OCC at 35k. Change trans fluid twice since I bought it in 2011. Coolant has been flushed twice. Screw every 15k recommend oil service.

It does need a new valve cover. JB weld will only hold out for so long. I'm preventively replacing the turbo lines and oil filter gasket so I don't have issues.

^^^^ wow that just sucks but I am glad you are getting it fixed.

I never mess with standing water for this reason.
