Oh and today I finished sanding my front JCW aero bumper with 2000 and sprayed on the last coat of Chili Red. Whoo Hoo!
Next is more color sanding with 2000 before it gets some clear.
So far the process has been:
Sand with 80
Fill a few deep rock chips and the fix crack in bumper.
Sand with 180
Sand with 320
Spray with filler primer
Let it dry in the sun
Block sand with 320
Wet sand with 400
Spray another coat of filler primer
Sand again with 180 & 320 and wet sand with 400 and 500
Spray Chili Red whoo hoo
Let it dry in the sun for a day and night
Wet sand again with 2000 (3 or 4 times)
Today I sprayed the last 2 coats of Chili Red.
Now it's outside sitting in the Sun baking to a nice even finish then I will bring it inside for the night.
Tomorrow....
You guessed it, more wet sanding with 2000 to get rid of any new orange peel from the last coat of Chili Red.
Then it will be ready for clear!
After that is done, I will install the OEM grills and tape off the bottom and sides to spray the textured black section.
Then I can put it back on the car again and drive!-

I ordered up some new brake fluid and some rear stainless steel brake lines from Detroit Tuned the other day, and I asked for them to put something fun on the box. I received my box today with brake lines, fluid, and some DT swag!
I have had awesome dealings with any MINI vendor I have ordered from, and this made my day.Attached Files:

Make sure they replace the A Pillar covers too. Reusing the old ones often causes one to fly off later on down the road.-

I drove up Route 33 into the Shenandoah National Forest yesterday. 33 turned out to be by far the curviest road I've taken since I got Black Top. FUN! Though it's also quite steep in places and for the first time I really noticed the small engine of the R50 struggling a bit.
I must have pushed things further than they had been in a very long time on this car, because when I pulled into the hotel after all those fun curves, I had a new wheel noise like a card in bike spokes. It's definitely wheel speed related, not engine speed related, and I think it's just something that has come loose and is flapping in the wind and or ticking on the back side of the wheel. Haven't found it yet with a couple quick visual inspections, but neither steering nor braking seem to be affected.-

I think I still have a MINI.
The upside is I'm not piling on the miles.
Yep. I'm looking at this as a positive.-
