I did sit back (on an old tire ;)) and look at my MINI today... For quite some time actually. (After work of course)

I have considered it, but I am not going to get one. I am just going to use Nu Finish the one a year car polish from Walmart.

I don't drive that often now and I really like the high polished, deep glossy look that you can't do with a clear bra on.
Also with the multiple layers of chili red and clear I put onI would have to get hit by a bolder to chip it now. It's not a paper thin factory finish now.

I would like a clear bra / NASCAR style windshield pull offs after I replace my windshield from the rock chips. :ihih:

    I already know a company that makes them:Thumbsup: but $$$$$ :frown2:

Did the MINIs on Top Saturday.. What a blast it was to meet other cooper owners from all over. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Just over 300 Minis.

Going to change the oil on the GP but dreading taking that canister out. The engineer that designed and placed the oil filter placement should have to travel the world and change every ones oil filters for free. What a danged place to put it.

Topped up with 93 then came home and properly cleaned the windscreen. (Thanks, Dave.0.)

p.s. You guys are too young and attractive. Nobody wants to race a bald, dumpy old goat like me. :ihih:

Today was a big day for BlackTop. After chasing around various shops by phone ("sorry you'll have to take it to the dealer." "Sorry, we can't do that here, you'll have to go to our sister dealer 60 miles away.") I happily worked with Dawson Glass who were at the top of the search results for "Pilkington auto glass Charlottesville".

These guys were great to work with, very accommodating, and the tech was more than happy to show me how the previous installer using SafeLite glass had screwed up his install leading to the passenger side A Pillar cover flying off 2 days after the glass cracked. (The previous installers had pulled the pillar off without removing the screws securing the door side edge. This was true on both sides, though I had only lost one cover so far.)

Turns out the install was SO messed up that every single trim piece associated with the windshield is going to have to be replaced: Both A covers, the rain gutter and the curved bits where they terminate at the front.

But now I have a new, perfectly clear windshield and it looks great, even though the car as whole looks like hell because the A Pillar covers haven't arrived yet.

Many, many thanks to Crashton and Dave.0 for their tips about using Pilkington glass, not SafeLite. It took some digging, but I found Dawson Glass and they and their product are great. I will say that A Pillars *should* be reusable, if care is taken in their removal.

Unfortunately, the window tint shop turned busy by the time the windshield was done, so no rear window tinting today, and I can't get free time to have it done until next week.

Took my car out for a run today and tomorrow I am heading out to my brother for fireworks.

Looks like I will have to finally fill up my car with fuel since the Dragon.

Actually got my wife to ride with me in the Blimey2.0 to the local brewery. With the 4pt harness. Which took some cajoling.
