I used 3/4 MDF and made speaker rings that I could mount speakers to.
Then I mounted the MDF rings to the door.

The wood will sound insulate and hold the screws better than the door metal.

Also it would be a good idea add some "type of" Dynamat sound deadening material to the inner and outer doors. This will keep your doors solid and not rattle and make the speaker sound even better.

I've done LOTS of big audio...

Spent highschool competing in db-DRAG (SPL competition, research Team QUAD term-pro still has some of our stuff archived) owned the CO state SPL record for a couple weeks... Shattered 3 windshields in a week just with sound pressure. :)
After that I joined the army built some good systems for friends, and moved into the SQ world... My last system I built had 1400 watts of power running 14 speakers in my CRX... Pop the hatch and open the doors at a car show, and they would mysteriously turn the music over the PA off... :D It was fun, but getting out of all that noise has saved me lots of money! Now I dont even care to have the radio on running around town.

My MINI has just the OE non Harmon Cardboard speakers in the doors, and the standard headunit that plays these things called CD's... I was going to take it all out, but I hear that these "CD's" are going to be replacing iPODs soon...

Packed up my whole family plus gear and watched our little green belt at sparring practice. She's the one in blue. :)

Took a spin in the Classic to see if that wheel balancing did the trick. I'd say so, all the way up to a sustained 80+. That'll work just fine! :D

Indeed. However, we have had our share of Auto Meter failures in the race car. Mostly with the needle falling off of the tach. In which case, shift lights are bliss...

Really nice drive up to FT. Collins today to see the summer trial Flower gardens at CSU. Pictures later.

Pat, Pup and Countryman enjoyed the drive and exercise. I did manage to stop by 2nd Amendment Gun Shop in Loveland on the way up, needed more time to browse a very nice shop. Owner is a top end gunsmith with reasonable fees.

    Picture or two later.

Pick up set of the Powerflex Polly ones. The rubber OEM ones will just fail again and again and again.

Chad at Detroit Tuned has them: http://www.detroittuned.com/powerflex-front-control-arm-bushings-gen-2/

I just sent a paypal transaction through to renew as a supporting member (year 2). Also sent a PM to Nathan letting him know my real name so he won't wonder who sent money.

What? You think I would let you all know my real name? :eek6:

You're not driving your car enough. Maybe you should get an F56 for your commutes and keep your R53 for real motoring.

I ordered a header and some 450cc injectors from Jan @ RMW. My girl gets some more go-fast parts, and is in store for a dyno tune at the end of next month.
