Waved at an F56 MINI driver on my way to work this morning. Was surprised he waved back![]()

Getting ready for MINIs Take North Carolina next weekend. Changed out the belt, plugs, plug wires and cleaned and charged the air filter. Still up on jacks waiting for the engine mount to come in.

Fixed a squeaky window, greased the sunroof tracks, door latches, changed some bulbs, and killed the battery in the fiancée's R56.

after getting another $50 worth of tools from Harbor Freight, I was finally able to do the valve cover gasket. Nice and clean in that motor. Lots of Mobil 1 went through there in the last 10 years.
Then I ordered a front radiator support-

For Father's Day.... drove the MINI down to the North Market with the wife and had some good eatin at Hot Chicken Takeout.... Some really tasty chicken served there.... They open at 11:00am with a line that starts forming before they open.... They post up the number of chickens that they have for the day (732 for today)... When they run out.... well that's it for the day.... They don't skimp on the servings... The place was packed....:drool

Herself brought it back from a 1,000 mi. road trip yesterday. Of course, the tank was dry, it was covered in bugs and road grime. So, filled it with 93, washed it and steelwooled the windscreen. Much happier now.

Went down to the shop this morning.... Cut the grass in the back of the shop and the lot across the street.... Nice morning to get this done.... All the while letting the MINI cool down a little...
Removed the BOV and modified it so now it doesn't run the risk of the diaphragm rupturing...
The duct tape provided a third hand to keep the radiator overflow tank out of the way while removing the BOV...
Was going to put some of this in..... Except no earl filter was available.... Durn

Took all the belt line trim off my car today and pulled off the crappy Plati dip. Scuffed everything down with a scotch brite and prepped and taped everything off. Sprayed them down with SAE black self etching primer for aluminum, dried and cover them with two coats of SAE trim black. Trim looks so much better now.
I also night shaded some front bumper marker lights for the new aero bumper and blacked out a new pair of MINI emblems.-

40 really?
I know I was doing more like 85 - 95ish and saw triple digits in a few spots.
As for my current bumper, let's just say it's more white at the bottom then it is Chili Red. It's 8 years old and beat to hell so it's had a good life.
Do I regret killing it after I redid it before the Dragon? Not one bit , I had a blast.
