I overhauled a set of four pot calipers from a 94 Mini today, for a KC Club member - I was hurrying to get them done so he could get them installed and bled in time for our classic fun run next weekend, but now that's cancelled so no rush.

They're not particularly difficult, but there are some tricks you need to know, and it helps to have the right tools and some air - plus some Girling Rubber Graese!

Once all back together I put a coat of paint on them just to keep them looking nice...

Cleaning all the parts takes the most time, after cleaning them with solvent to get rid of the grease I clean them again in hot soapy water and wire brush the bleed nipples clean, blow everything out thorughly and use liberal amounts of rubber grease on assembly.

Got mine back today! His face is shiney & scarless again!

And they did a full interior/exterior detail for me. Ahhhh...

As much as I was surprised at how the Focus handled I kinda felt like a zombie driving it. So glad to have my Mini back! :cornut:

Found mine in excellent condition on Craigslist for only $600 - took me three years to find one tho, everyone I called on was already gone or way too much money.

Ok this may get long, so go get a cup of coffee or beer. (I may vent a little)

I drove my Mini to Starbucks to meet my 16 year old daughter. She's been driving sense September. We had a nice cup of coffee and good conversation. Time to go home and my daughter pulls out first so I end up about 4 or so car links behind her. About 2 miles from our neighborhood My daughter changes lanes yes she used her blinker. I saw nothing wrong with what she did. After that I saw some cars changing lanes but really could not tell what was going on. I caught my daughter at a 4 way stop before the neighborhood and pulled in first. I look in the rearview mirror and se my daughter, a silver SUV and a PT cursor pull in also. thought thats odd! pulled into our cove and parked in the drive and my daughter parked on the street and the SUV behind her. So I stand there thinking my daughter knows this person. When she gets to me she tells me that the lady tried to get back in front of her and then followed her to the house. So I start down the drive to see what the problem is. As I do the Cops show up. I tell my daughter to come down. The police get out and the lady gets out. She is mad and tells me I should take my daughters cell phone away. I calmly say she was not on the phone. She said she cut me off, I say no I was behind you and saw she used her blinker before the lain change. She said well I had to hit my brake so hard my dog fell in the floor. One of the police officers stepped in and pulled her to the side. I'm glad I was about to tell her perhaps her dog should not be in the front seat with her.
The other police officer tells us he has dealt with her before and she is trouble. Before my daughter can tell him what she did the PT Cursor pulls up and a man gets. He said my daughter did everything right and that lady got mad and almost hit them trying to run down my daughter. He was the one that called the police.
They told the lady she acted inappropriately.
Once she was gone he asked me if he could do anything els I said no and that I was just very pissed someone followed my daughter home. Of course my daughter was in tears but the police reassured her she was in the right. they were very kind to her. I have several friends on our towns force they are all good guys our city is lucky.

This could have ended bad. Following one of mine home is over the line.

Today I pulled my MINI out of the garage and let it run for a 1/2 hour while I installed a new 6 bulb HO T5 light in my garage.

Savvy the garage is now like a sunny day at the beach when all 24 of the lights are on.

Heck, I drove the R53 four whole miles this afternoon. I broke the speed limit the entire way!

I may also mention this was four miles of city street driving at 5:30pm. Those commuters made for great obstacles to dodge as I worked my way through the pack.

Today at work, we all wore red to support heart health, and more importantly, to support a coworker who suffered a heart attack not long ago. They asked to use my Mini in the photo. ;)

    Look, the ground is damp!
