Took Scooter up to Estes Park via Left-Hand to Ward, Peak to Peak to Hwy 7, Hwy 7 to Estes Park, played in the city a bit, took Hwy 36 to Lyons then home.

Super nice twisty mountain drive. :)

    Don

    Scooter enjoyed it too.

Swapped the winter treads for the summer rims/tires. Then I invented a few errands and went out for a nice "spirited" drive..

I stood staring out the garage door, at all the rain pouring down...
The MINI in my peripheral vision, and freshly detailed, I decided not to take that drive after all.

Went to the dealer for the scheduled service and they were VERY nice to me. Even reminded me to use my 15% discount card they sent me. I was going to anyway, but it was nice of them to remind me.

So, I'm sitting in the waiting area with all the normal owners, typing away on their lap tops, iPads, iPhones and not talking. I am properly clad in my M/A Racing Shirt, so I blurt out, "ANYBODY GOING TO MOTD AT THE END OF APRIL"? Everyone looks at me with this blank stare, then they go right back to what they had been doing. I guess nobody was.

Well, I got up early this morning and had breakfast with a couple of my bud's at Tommy's Diner on West Broad street. What I'm saying is I got "Carbo'd Up"....:D

Headed back to my shop and started on the rear suspension replacing the OEM springs with Swift Spec-R springs.... The fronts were done last weekend...

Here are the OEM on the left and the Swift on the right...

Here is one of the dampers switched out with the Swift... Ready to install...

Here is a shot of my MINI sitting with Swifts front and rear.... So far at a mild 1" drop...

    I'm "Tard" and going home...
Tomorrow I'll be back at it setting up the rear Camber and Toe using my DIY Toe Plates....

I was away for work since Thursday.....

When I returned, a joint effort between some of my MINI peeps and my hubby led me to this:

    Blackened grille:

    Blackened boot latch:

And my summer wheels and tires back on:

    GIDDYUP!

Didn't do anything with the Coupe. what I did was fly back from Charlotte to Columbus (corporate plane) and we routed directly over the Dragon and Fontana Dam. The water looked a little muddy but even so, I got a cold chill just thinking about being down there running the roads and hanging with my MINI friends in less than a month!!

    WOOHOO ! ! !

No rain OR snow on the forecast! Got the car out, washed and quick detailed, changed out my old rusty wheel studs, installed new WMW studs, R&R'd the brake caliper bushings and greased them up good, AND PUT ON THE SUMMER WHEELS/TIRES ! ! !

The bubble is small enough that I'm betting the summer sun will shrink the vinyl enough to make it just go away. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. We'll see. With a quilter for a co-pilot I'll not have any trouble finding a needle if needs be.

I just installed a new battery. There was nothing wrong with the battery that was in it, but I was still running the original battery in a 2005 model. Seven years is probably a record for an OEM battery!

Well, this was yesterday... er... Sunday, but I chased down a Lotus and an E60 M5 in my little 118hp JustaCooper at Roebling Road Raceway. (And yes, I realize they SHOULD be faster than me)
