Exactly, and then they slow you down so much that the slow lane ones get over in front of them!!

A general caution to you and any new MINI owners.....
Notice that nice factory paint job and how shiny it is.... Well there is a reason for this.... There is a clear coat on top of the paint that gives it it's shine.... I'm thinking this even applies to the non-metallic paints...

When you start cleaning the engine bay.... Take special notice that the body color paint doesn't have that same high gloss.... It's kind of a duller finish.... That's because there is no clear coat inside the engine compartment and under the bonnet.... Be extra careful with those surfaces when you clean them.... It's pretty easy to rub through the body color and you will start seeing the primer.... The absence of the clear coat gives these paint surfaces less protection.......:eek6:

    I did it!
    I cleaned the engine bay:
Before - bad photo, should have gotten closer.
It was dull and dusty, but not really terrible.

Sprayed with Simple Green, diluted 1:10
    Wiped down
    Rinsed
    Sprayed with Nero
    DSC02986.jpg
    Took a drive
Returned home and wiped down the engine
Installed the oil supply line shield
    Done for now

Now that I made a stab at it I can see nooks and crannies to get into next time.
I need some of those refrigerator brushes.
Like everyone said, this was not the big deal that I made it out to be.
This will be easy to add on to my normal detail routine.
Maybe I'll even learn what some of that stuff in there does.
Thanks for all the support and encouragement.

Beutiful job Anna! Got some bad news for you though. It's a little know fact that activities like that awaken dormant OCD genes. It's OK though, you'll find good company in 'The Ward'.

My husband would love for some OCD genes to wake up in me!
Like maybe "detailing" the fridge...
Nope, I can only focus on my MINI.

Fitted the obligatory spotlights, took a couple of hours as I made sure the wiring was 100% correct using relay and result was fantastic, they look like they are factory fitted ;-)

Last night I used my new toy finally on RYU...

    My Flex Orbital Polisher.
Gave RYU a nice coat of Epic. He's all shiny today :ihih:

Figured I owed it to him from his shock going boom all over the side of him :mad2:

A little late to report. Took the GP on it's first run last weekend. 100 miles of twisties through the Poconos. Coordinated with a few other local GP owners as well.

Taking the road less traveled on my way to Pittsburgh. Nothing like not being in a rush and taking the time to stop at interesting looking places along the way.
