And that is a good thing my friend. My horse is running up a nice vet bill right now.
MM, make sure that walker has under panels for less drag, old man.

So the hose story continues.... The hose I thought I sourced locally didn't show up either! The original hose did show up last night so today's job was to install the new hose, replace the crankshaft sensor o-ring which was leaking..... I ordered the part and it was shipped from Atlanta on the 28th, once again the post office at its finest....it went to TN one day, Greensboro the next and just arrived at the Hickory unit at 7am this morning!!!! Which of course means it won't be delivered today...
Now if I look at a map I see Atlanta, to the left TN, to the right from TN past Hickory, Greensboro, Hickory sort of straight above Atlanta and they wonder why the Post Office is losing money???? Just venting cause I wanna drive my MINI!-

So while you folks played in the garage today, we played in the SUN with the MINIs, legal and in the center of Denver.
ALBUM here.
Denver People's Fair with Schomp MINI as the automobile sponsor.
They were giving folks photo-finish pictures at the end of the course.
Now on to the car show on Sunday, going to be another day of sun.

Clay barred the entire car to remove some tree wax or pollen, and rewaxed with P21S - the new 100% carnuba. Best results I've seen. Also learned the clay barring doesn't seem to remove existing wax. It just takes off what is stuck to the surface. I have many coats of carnuba. Even so, I still put on a new coat - machine applied - after clay barring just to freshen up the surface. Results are smooth, reflective and slick as can be.

Had new clutch, front bushings installed, and a power steering pump checked out and replaced under warranty. While MINI was in service, I had a Paceman (the oxymoron...a big MINI) to drive around.

Because I returned the Paceman with a bit more gas in it than what I started with, they gave me some swag.

Then I took my car out motoring to check out the new parts.

Drove to work today and watched my MPG tick up to 34.1. Then I kicked on sport mode and floored it to watch it go back down. So far the best part of my day. Waiting for the ride home.

Couple of the guys found out that I was going to try to fix the turbo today and came by to lend moral support.
As you can see, they were giving the problem very thoughtful consideration.

This project is not a bolt on replacement. My intent is to only replace the broken part which is the waste gate so I purchased a exhaust housing which has the gate built into it.
Did not intend to have to pull the entire turbo, but we couldn't see any way to get the exhaust housing apart from the compressor housing so we pulled the whole thing to work it on the bench.-

Ordered a new turbo for my JCW. :mad2: However, Silverback will be back on the road soon.
Check out how bad the wastegate was on this car after 103k miles.

Way too much play in that gate. On top of that the cartridge was leaking oil. Time for bigger better faster.-
