A big busy day!
Today I installed a new Pioneer digital media player.
I settled on this one because I've got an old iPod Classic I'm going to plug into the REAR USB port to use as a digital jukebox. No more USB plugs hanging off the front of my dash!. I really don't need it to play CDs.
Theoretically I'm going to install some new door speakers too, but lemme tell ya, the new head unit (with an equalizer) made such a HUGE difference in the sound that I may not bother with the speakers.
I also plastidipped/dechromed several of the largest pieces of chrome on the car.
Handy that lots of cardboard from our kitchen renovation is still around.
I bet you can tell I couldn't figure out how to pull the electrical or mechanical for the rear hatch.
Yeah, I still need to do the two lower grills. A much more complicated project!
I'm pretty happy with the end results, even if it will need some touchup. Any advice on removing that Airport Motors sticker from the back? It doesn't want to peel up.

With the hair dryer you can warm it up for a long time any not worry about about burning the paint or yourself.
If you have a heat gun it will make it a lot easier and faster but you do run the risk of burning your paint if you hold the gun in the same spot for a while.
Also you can get it so warm the gets super hot and when you touch it you could burn yourself.-

Picked up my MINI from MINI Service this morning. They covered the labor on my new clutch under warranty.
After a disastrous new clutch put in last year, I had them convert it to a Valeo single mass flywheel clutch. The conversion kit cost less than a new dual mass flywheel. I'll review my impressions after I wear it in on another thread. It's very quiet and works great so far.
Also replaced all the gaskets and seals so the job did cost me some money.
I gotta say...I really missed driving my R53 MCS. In the time my car was in the shop, I had a Paceman for a weekend and a Clubman after that. The Paceman was too big. My wife (who is kind of short) could not reach the handles to pull the hatch door down. The Clubman (with auto transmission), though I liked very much, was not anywhere near as enjoyable to drive. I would say I enjoyed driving the F56 Cooper in sport mode much more.-

Not today, but on vendors row Saturday the guys at Helix installed a Craven short shifter and NM shift linkage dust cover. They also did a bunch of coding for convenience stuff. Great work by Helix and thanks to Kellen at Cravenspeed for covering the install cost on my shifter.
Oh yeah, almost forgot the cup holder that the folks at MiniFini installed. All around great weekend!-

So yesterday I was able to order the new adapter plate for my Classic's starter. What a great bunch of folks at Hi-Torque in LA! They are machining one from a fresh chunk of billet and will have it shipped out by days end... That, my friends, IS customer service!!
