No dragon for me this year. Been down there the last 3 years & have done 4 OFOTD's. This one is crossed off my bucket list. Maybe in another year or so I'll do it again. Have fun, be safe.

I thought about mine sitting in the storage building for the last three days. Safely tucked away from all the crappy weather we've been having since Sunday. Everything is packed and ready to load at noon tomorrow rain or shine. Hoping for the latter.

Picked up my MINI from MINI Service this morning. They covered the labor on my new clutch under warranty. After a disastrous new clutch put in last year, I had them convert it to a Valeo single mass flywheel clutch. The conversion kit cost less than a new dual mass flywheel. I'll review my impressions after I wear it in on another thread. It's very quiet and works great so far.

Also replaced all the gaskets and seals so the job did cost me some money.

I gotta say...I really missed driving my R53 MCS. In the time my car was in the shop, I had a Paceman for a weekend and a Clubman after that. The Paceman was too big. My wife (who is kind of short) could not reach the handles to pull the hatch door down. The Clubman (with auto transmission), though I liked very much, was not anywhere near as enjoyable to drive. I would say I enjoyed driving the F56 Cooper in sport mode much more.

Not today, but on vendors row Saturday the guys at Helix installed a Craven short shifter and NM shift linkage dust cover. They also did a bunch of coding for convenience stuff. Great work by Helix and thanks to Kellen at Cravenspeed for covering the install cost on my shifter.
Oh yeah, almost forgot the cup holder that the folks at MiniFini installed. All around great weekend!

As far as I know... Continental doesn't sell them with any kind of a mileage warranty. That being said, I usually get about two winter seasons out of mine (~30k-ish miles) before they start thumping the wear bars and get replaced.

So yesterday I was able to order the new adapter plate for my Classic's starter. What a great bunch of folks at Hi-Torque in LA! They are machining one from a fresh chunk of billet and will have it shipped out by days end... That, my friends, IS customer service!!

Moved it forward in the garage to make more room for more roadster parts scattering. Parts started going back on my little roadster today, so with any luck it will be on the road in a day or so. :fingerscrossed:

Drove it down to my local MINI dealership to wander around a bit.
Every sales person that I spoke with had nothing but good things to say about my R53; saying it is the good version and they all love the superchargers. :biggrin5:
My first time in a dealership where I could walk around and let them know I was just wandering and they kept wanting to hand me the keys to something. If there wasn't any crazy rain imminent I probably would have taken one of those F56's out for a spin.

It's actually kind of a funny story - my MINI is a "leftover" 2013 that was originally destined to go to a dealership in TX, but ended up in Sacramento since Niello didn't have many cars on their lot before the 2014's came in. So from what was explained to me, it was one of the few cars that had pre-tinted rear windows on the lot. I originally had gone to the dealer expecting to possibly order a 2014, but saw this car on the lot and I have to admit I have a special affinity for the ginormous speedometer and am not crazy about the "frowny" look of the '14 MCS.

Well, a month after having the car, I noticed the tint blistering. Called Niello, and they were initially confused about where I had my tint done until they realized mine was one of the cars originally meant for Texas. So they set up an appointment for me to have my windows re-tinted by a third party under warranty and the result is MUCH better. I would guess it's about 15-20%? Sorry I can't be more exact. I had my bestie with me when I picked up the car and he inquired about the cost, and was told they charge $150 for the rear windshield.

Sorry, that was probably a longer explanation than you anticipated.

Did you provide the micro-fiber for drying, if not you are braver than I. :drool :eek6:

I do support our local kids too, but I cringe if I see towels in the buckets of mud. :frown2:

Good support, congratulations to the Graduate.

We had those when I was in school... To this day, I will make a donation if I feel the cause is worthy, but won't let them touch my car. If I was in my truck I might let them though, it adds to the patina.
