Didn't do this today, but....


Drove from Columbus to Sleepy Hollow New York for Easter. Had a good time with family and although the drive was mostly in the rain, it wasn't too terrible.

While in NY, made a run over to Fort Lee for reasons. Was following a friend for this trip, and I hit a MASSIVE pothole. Once we got to Fort Lee, I saw that my left front tire had a HUGE blister on the side from the impact.

My tires were old anyway, but I'd been hoping to complete this trip and let another paycheck land before replacing them. Instead, I used Google, and found a small local shop that had been around since 1920 that had a set of tires for me.

In less than an hour, and for a VERY reasonable price, I was back on the road with a new set of tires.

So, if anyone here is ever stuck in NJ, and needs fast, friendly service, go and visit these guys.

I took a little excursion up towards Yosemite, to about the 4000' level, with the Valley British Auto Club. We all took the hour long ride on the Sugar Pine RR narrow gauge logger train, enjoyed a nice and peaceful picnic lunch and an equally enjoyable cruise back down the hill to Fresno/Clovis via the picturesque back roads of the Sierras... Had a great time with a great bunch of folks!

 

Drove the MINI in to work today.... Wrapping up the pricing on a nice job.... Had to take a break around 2:30.... My head was spinning from number crunching... Pulled out and fired up the push mower... Mowed around the parking lot.. Decided to mow the front lot of the two houses next to the shop.. Hey.....and while I was it it, I mowed Nathan's backyard...

Now he can throw a blanket back there and get an "all over" tan.... Nathan.... The Columbus finest have a little blue traffic copter.... So wear your RayBans and give them a big smile...

 

I just wish the state would classify cyclists more along the lines of motor vehicles than pedestrians... And enforce the rules the cyclists are supposed to follow.
Sure they have signs that say for them to stay single file, but a pack of 10+ bikes taking up the entire lane moving at the speed of stink is the norm here.

 

Repainted my JCW spoiler......... again. At least now, it's all set for installation.

 

That's it, I'm bringing my bike to the Dragon, and I'm gonna make Dave ride it. :lol:

 

Except for Jim Fixx, he was Mr.Super Jogger / Runner and he even wrote 1977 best-selling book The Complete Book of Running. How can it be in the shop? You don't drive it enough to break anything!

 

Put the summer wheels and tires back on.

 

We missed each other by one day again.... I did the route up Lookout Mountain on the 11th. At 11p.m. Lovely curves, no cars or bikes to speak of. XD

 

Took the GP on its first road trip. Took in the sights of the annual cherry blossom festival. Car said I did it averaging 44mpg, whether it's accurate or it was fun telling friends with much more "economical" cars the numbers. Manage to eek out some solid photos too.

 

More dragon prep:
- DS axle replacement (100k, it's time, did PS last fall)
- Fluids/filers
- PRW crank damper & new belt
- all new engine mounts and poly inserts (trans mount sagged >1/2"!)
- track down and eradicate a few rattles
- clean up a winter's worth of slop

To Do:
- have to fix JCW exhaust rattle (resonator innards - yucch)
- Clean up the sticky-tire wheels, apply to Mini
- pack n go

 

Ordered R56 rear trailing arms and left brake pipe line. Spent a ton of time messaging and on the phone. Almost had a stroke trying to get the hardware for the rear trailing arms. Still haven't solved that one.

All this, and my MINI is 2,054 miles away.

 

Just installed the passenger side seat mat emulator, buckle chime defeat, and resistors in the airbag socket to get ready for the latest mod. :ihih:

On that note, if anyone is in need of a seat mat emulator... let me know. Because I'm a dumb@$$... I ordered two. Not realizing I only needed one for the passenger seat only. If you are heading to the dragon, i'll have the extra one with me.

 

Give him a break, he probably owns a Prius.

 

Got to hand it to the Prius... They even make Fiat's look better!

 

Got the car back from the shop also.......and did I say I love those Koni Yellow's?!

Wow.

 

Yanked a pos blaupunkt deck from the j dub.
Replaced it with a fancy alpine.
Much more gooder now.
