Not my MINI but I swapped out my friends winter wheels on her MINI. I deep cleaned her summer OZ racing wheels and tires before we bagged them up for storage.
Then she came back an hour later and I did the same thing for her 2017 Honda Type R. OMG are the 20 inch Honda rims heavy with rubber and tires. I put on her new 18 inch OZ’s with winter rubber.
The Black Honda Type R wheels are now stacked in my garage for tomorrow when I clean and strip them, polish, prep and Ceramic coat them. She will get them back next week she drops off the Type R for a full winter detailing, strip, polish, prep and Ceramic coating. The HondaType R does not see much snow but it is ready for it If she needs to drive it.
She has her 2005 MCS with 189K on it as a bad weather beater.
Oh and while out at dinner tonight with friends I was booked for aNother full detail + rims on a first gen GP on Thanksgiving and the week after. who hoo.

After an hour's downpour, found water in the batt box.[emoji3062]
Removed the hatch panel, hosed, inspected & found the leak source....the boot handle. Folded 2 strips of 3M tape to make 4 layers.
Tested....passed the simulated storm test. Whew![emoji4]

I can't do much with this one, we're supposed to get three more inches this afternoon.......
so I guess I'll just play with these instead....
Actually, the one closest to me in the pic is just about done, I'm only waiting on one part that will be here later in the week to finish, and then it's ready to go back to Tulsa and the Innocenti will come back.
The Inno is also really close to done but I won't be driving it till the streets clear, they salt around here and I'm not going to muck up all the hard work we've done......-

I drove on my nearly 9 year old Blizzaks to just outside of Dayton, OH, yesterday, to get my new snow tires installed before the forecasted snow and ice storms. The ride down was an experience in itself. Don't let ANYONE tell you that tires [even snow tires] last forever. I dreaded every mile during the 25 mile trip down and prayed those old and very hard tires would make it on the wet and slick roads, which, thank God, they did. Looking at the tires before I went in to the installer for my new snows, I marveled at how great those Blizzaks still looked and it gave me a slight pause before I sent them to "snow tire heaven".
My new snows are on now and the drive home was much more pleasant...less jarring over the bumps, greater steering response and the knowledge that I had made the right decision in letting my old tires go.-

Another bit of Nostalgia back when our racing was sponsored in 1979, I drove the SSB car but Steve my partner in crime manage to end the season at this Lake Afton race in 79. We pitted with the Peak sponsored yellow MG/Sprite, would have liked to take a few laps in it too. Bigger Sign, bigger sponsor.
Yes, 3 years of SSB in various dealer Rabbits and Sciroccos, my daily driver back then was a scirocco with the the full body kit and a 3 inch open exhaust, guess I never have grown up.

New Raceseng Stratose shift knob
with perforated leather cover.
I got the matching collar on the
bottom, too.
The edges on the top where
the red paint ends were sharp and
annoying, but I fixed that with some
masking tape, sandpaper, and a small
fine diamond file designed for smoothing
chips on the rims of drinking glasses.
I like it better than the Sphereology one
I had before.

Hello. Anyone remember me? I'm still alive, and still have a MINI. About once a week, I actually drive it to buy groceries. I did get it out on the highway today and let it breathe. Right now, I drive it about 100-200 miles per month.
Business imploded. All the classic car auctions are canceling. Pebble Beach/Monterey Car Week -- Cancelled! Add the fact that I have the dreaded "underlying conditions" that make Covid-19 some serious chit for me, and I'm living like a hermit.
%$&@# chrome top on my shift knob broke off, again, and my MINI dealer closed down. I can't find one anywhere online.
Washing isn't an issue, since the car is in my garage almost all the time.
I've been meaning to pop it and say "hello," but find myself with nothing really to say. This post pretty much sums up the last four months.
So, that's about all. I hope everyone is healthy and somewhat happy.

In our MINI get together, one of our newer members couldn't come. He was running his MINI on a track. Turns out his dad and I were friends in university so dad showed up in his M2. I hadn't seen him in about 30 years much before his son was even born. His dad recognized my name on the event invite I had sent out to the club members.
