My new to me VW has the same automatic transmission as my MINI, an Aisin 09G. It has about 100,000 miles on it and the CarFax showed that it hadn't had the transmission fluid changed. I called around for quotes, One VW specialist. wanted $350 to service the transmission and the guy I talked to didn't know that it had an A09G transmission in it. The second place I called is an automatic transmission specialist, he quoted $250 and had a 10% discount coupon on his website. He had a very informative page on his site with a lot of great information about the Aisin automatic transmission. I took my VW there and when my MINI gets to 50,000 miles I'll have them service the transmission.

My R53 is on Windshield #7. This is the first windshield that is not an original MINI windshield and it has been on my car 6 years. It does have 1 rock ding on it. I filled it and it is still visible, but it has not spread. The ding has been there 3 years now.

When I had the windshield replaced on my R53 it was Pilkington glass. Seemed as good or better than the oem glass.

Seems to me that the MINI screen is very susceptible to rick dings & pitting due to its upright stance. Hey I used the word stance. I'm now a part of stance nation. :p

Pilkington glass is so much petter than crappy OEM glass.

You should never cut window tint film on the glass.

Well I have to/choose to do it old school. I just tried the new blade on the glass and no matter what pressure I apply, it doesn't scratch the surface. 'Twas my F up using hardened blades, I just never realized that was a thing. A blade was a blade to me. Apparently stainless is the way to go for tint blades. Learn something new every day :)

If I need MINI oem parts I go to my good friends at EMINIParts.com. Plus they are a forum sponsor. Great folks there.

Shipping to Canada is a problem. But now that there is a revised NAFTA (renamed UMCA or something), it might be easier. But shipping costs and the value of the Canadian dollar is always an issue.
Maybe Canada needs to charge the US more for our oil. and the US remove some of their tariffs your president imposed due to Canada being a "security threat" to the US.

Sorry...wasn't wanting to drag politics into this forum.

DBS Volante. Somewhat nice looking. Slow. Be careful detailing it -- parts may fall off. If it has the paddle shift automatic, don't drive it far, unless you have a towing company on speed dial.

Yes, I have driven a DBS... actually, about a dozen of them. Poorly built slugs.

It's worth well less than half of what that 52-year-old "fiat to me" is worth. Park it outside and move your MINi back inside. That would be a far better use of a garage.

On my way to work this morning, I pulled up behind a car in a traffic line up and realized one of my high beam / daytime running light bulbs is burned out. So...what's a good H7 bulb and inexpensive too, should I get. I know opinions differ from person to person.

Also, took kid and her car down to my local tire shop this morning to get winter tires and wheels for the winter.
Total cost for winter tires and allow wheels including install, balancing and taxes came in just under $1000 CDN. Then tire guy said he had set of not as nice looking wheels and tires where a deal fell through, that he could sell my daughter for $700 CDN. Turns out the tires are all-weather tires (as opposed to all season tires). Are these good enough for most people ? Daughter feels kind of like "what did I just pay for?" Didn't I just take off all season tires?

Anyways, she's all set for the minimal amount of snow we expect here. If we go into the hills in the winter, we'll take the Countryman.

With all the people with lifted trucks & ricer cars running illegal HID & LED conversions no one is going to notice the difference from a 65W bulb.
