My S won't get washed until we get to Fontana. It's fairly clean but the orange wheels are not, due to those crappy OEM pads and rotors. Never again. At least I upgraded to a hi temp brake fluid.

Not sure how many miles on your MINI, but tie rods are a wear item & a pretty important one too. Now you'll have a nice new set, all good.
As for the Ford dealer doing an alignment, what's up with that? You've learned a lesson & now you know where to go in the future. No worries we've all been there.-

Not today, but Sunday, I was driving back from Baltimore in the rain
and plowed through a couple inches of standing water at about 80.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (215/45/17) sliced through the
water very well with no drama at all except . . .
In addition to the impressive plume, the water popped the left front
arch trim almost all the way off. When I stopped to put it back on it
flopped under the tire which took it the rest of the way off as well as
crushing the reflector and bulb and tearing the wires off.
New trim, reflector, bulb, socket, harness, and clips are on order,
and all should be back to normal when they arrive in a few days.-

I drove across the border to Blaine Washington to buy gas. I save about $20 CDN a tank after currency conversion by buying gas in the US. I also noted that the closer to the border crossing and the highway, the price varies. So if you drive the extra 1/2 mile and get off the highway, the fuel costs less too. The price varied from 3.99 per US Gal to 3.69 per US Gal.
BTW I thought Chevron had super premium 94 octane fuel. I didn't find any in Blaine. Was I mistaken? I was going to go for the good stuff but didn't find any. They have 94 Octane (and no ethanol) in Canada but that comes in at $2.00 per liter.-

vetsvette MINI Alliance AmbassadorCould very well be. After I removed said short from the cockpit, the damned thing started right up for the Service Manager.
Told them to wring it out and do whatever they had to to fix it.
Found out this evening that it's ready to pick up. I'll be going down there Saturday morning to swap cars. Seems that when they hooked it back up to the computer, the car somehow went back in time ~2 years. They queried the DME and the darned thing thought it was 2017. Yet when they did the software update on April 29th the printout confirmed the update. I hate computers.

We'll see how it does on the trip home. Good experiences with Roadside Assistance, the Towing Company, and Flow Mini's Service Manager. Could have been much worse.
And it was kinda neat riding around for a couple of days in a soft riding car that you had to watch the tach to be sure it was running. It was so quiet I could hear the thoughts rattling around in my head. Never a good thing.-

On my way home from the office last night, I picked up, not 1, but 2 windshield dings. I didn't even see anything hit the car. I just thought I got a bird dropping as it suddenly appeared while I was driving and then I noticed it was a chip. It could have been time for windshield #9, but I had some leftover ding repair so that's what I spent the evening doing.
One, I managed to fill so you can't even see it. The other one, you can see but hopefully, I filled it well enough so it won't expand....at least until I'm ready to get another windshield. Since I've had so many replaced already, the monopoly insurance company here won't replace them anymore.-

Replaced the cabin air filter. Remember to pop the latches on the inside (against the firewall side) first or else they will be very difficult to reach if you pop the passenger facing side first. I just learned that by experience.

My (minimal liability only) insurance on the car is more than a dollar a mile. Meanwhile, I still have gas in the tank from spring 2018, so the premium charge for high octane gas doesn't hurt so much.

My house is about 95 years old with
steam radiators, no A/C, and no
garage, but I still find time to work on
my MINI and my wife’s car at curbside
for most things.-
