Got home yesterday day. The Helmet is filthy! I guess I am going to see how the coating will hold up after a week in the hot Memphis sun and airport grime.
I hope to get to wash it today.

I put those on my R53. They gave me a nice placebo effect. Cheap & easy so why not.

Thanks to my own photo I realized I forgot to pop the driver side fender liner back out.

FYI if you push it down like I did it gives you enough clearance to tighten the bottom bolt using an extension.

When I got home from work yesterday, I gave my car a quickie wash to get the dirt off, particularly the rear end, of my car.
This morning, it is windy and thunderstorm raining in the Vancouver BC area. Good thing it wasn't a thorough wash.

It's everywhere my friend. Here in Southern Virginia. we're under a heat advisory and excessive heat watch until 2300 Sunday. Heat index 105º - 115º in the afternoons. I'll be sticking with the sofa and central air and my Suburban with the superb dual A/C systems for the duration of the heat wave. I've gotta book some time with my indi Mini tech for next month to get a couple of things done.

It’s was too hot and humid today at 9 am in the shade. Took the MINI out for a nice ride and put her back in the garage.

Maybe I will wash it tomorrow......

    1. Put Coverking seatcovers on Ron Swanson - I was looking at replacing the seats, but wanted to retain the airbags while my daughter is driving it.
    2. Ordered an Alpine head unit for it so she can have her bluetooth.
    3. Ordered a pile of parts for the TieFighter - Engine mount, tensioner, belt, and pulley, crank position o-ring, water pump, thermostat.

I was hoping that they would go with a smaller, lighter DOHC V8 to go with the new mid-engine layout. I was thinking a less than 5-litre V8 with the same HP. It is being released as a 2020 model, and 100 HP per litre is pretty easy to do nowadays. Oh well, baby steps, I guess.

Also....getting back to MINIs. I waved at 2 MINI drivers going the other way on my way to the office this morning.
    Both totally ignored me. :(

Is it normal for an aftermarket stereo to not ‘lock’ into the rack? This one can slide out if you pull on it.

Took the Mini for a quick run around the block to get the juices flowing, since it's been sitting for a month. Saw this and thought it was funny. My neighbor is one of several farms in the county experimenting with hemp crops to replace growing tobacco for a living. Lot of people don’t realize that the maximum THC content is .3% or lower. You could get high quicker by smoking Kudzu. Guy’s nuts, and his crop is pretty puny, but I do like his sign. :Cigar: fullsizeoutput_a9d.jpeg

It probably can be 3D printed or fixed. But I was unable to get my fingers in to see how it fits. So without ripping the glovebox door apart, I was unable to see how it fits in the latch. It has to go in, in a way that the lock on the glovebox door will lock or unlock. There has to be a slot in there somewhere. I just couldn't see or feel it without having to break something.

I haven't found any reason to turn the DSC off in my back-country romps in the MINI. Now, I had a press Mercedes SLC55 AMG once, and turned off the traction control. I spun it within the first thirty seconds. I learned a valuable lesson that day. A supercharged V8 in a car the size of a Miata is not something to take lightly.

I'm pretty sure I saw either this one or the sister car run at a classic race at VIR several years ago. I believe they said it was valued at 13 million at that time. The engine bay was a work of art with all the engine turning and polished parts. I do remember it had a unique sound. Beautiful car.
