Installed a Sprint Booster. Apart from getting a custom tune this is the next best thing.

Now I can heal & toe much easier =)

Dave, I didn't know that was a thing. That said, this was the first time I've done brakes on this car since they were covered by MINI till 100k. Just solder the two lines and that removes the sensor for good? Where the hell have I been....

He can hardly wait for me to shut off the ignition! He'll never drive as his legs are too short...even for a MINI. He's a cockapoo puppy and is really curtailing my fun time [like car shows], but so far he's doing as well as a puppy in need of doggy Ritalyn [sp?] can do.

Seems like the market is shrinking for both canned tuna & custom tuna. Takes a while, but the good stuff stays at the top while the poseurs fall by the wayside. I'd guess the new F MINI's have a low take rate on tunes & such.

I'll never buy a new sweeper for my sweetie. She'd expect me to use it.

I replace my belt and tensioner every 2 years. I replaced the crank damper after the first 4 years with an ATI damper.

I just used a Coteco brand OEM style part,
which looks to be of reasonable quality.
Actually, the original stock one looked
perfectly fine, but I figure it was living on
borrowed time and the rubber must be
    pretty hard by now.
Also, no one seems to make a performance
dampening crank for the R55-R60 range,
just a couple lightened solid ones.

I read that too. I plan on changing it to the damper one. It was a quick temporary fix. Seriously dont want the bearing failure.

Friday I drove the Helmet to work and then when my wife and I went out.
Last night we watched Chasing Perfect the Frank Stephenson documentary. It was interesting. When asked to design the Mini, he said he starting as if he were the one to design the changes to the classic mini starting in 69 and how he would have evolved it to the present. He said it needed to be aggressive but also soft so both Men and women, young and old would like it. He said it walked the the line between a guy and girl car.

Two things he said makes me change the way I look at the Gen 1 Mini. First he said he sat in his office and tried to draw the perfect woman's breast. That became the mirrors......I just laughed but then he said, when you sit in the car you are looking over the thighs and pelves area of a woman. Oh MY I am sure BMW is soooo glad he shared that. To funny!

now remember he is talking about a justa because the S came latter.

Anyone know of a nice Gen1 mini for sale??? Now I know why I miss driving my Gen1..........and I thought it was the sound of the supercharger I missed:D:D

P.S. hay @Dave.0 now I really think The mistress is the perfect name for your MINI!

Schwaben makes one. I think Lee has one. If not, I'll loan you mine for the price of mailing it to you. And return, of course. :)

It could be a start of a bad battery under load to an original alternator starting to fail.

I'm glad they did. It wouldn't have been much of a celebration without them.

Perish THAT thought. I plan to keep on driving til they have to pry my fingers off the steering wheel.
This whole ordeal has been disappointing. When we bought this car in 2012, it only had 26k [now it has 90k] on it and we had planned on it to last the rest of our lives. I'm not interested in buying another car. Come Hell or high water, I'm sticking with what I have. My MCS has 50k more than her car does and the R50 is still plugging along at 81k although who really knows how long this newer CVT will last.

Nothing Mini, can't even get the Helmet out of the garage.
Yesterday changed the A/C compressor on my daughters Honda. As I was fighting that, one of my sons called to tell me he needed his oil changed and his brakes are squeaking. Said he could bring it over after church today. Guess what I am doing today?

MINI stuff, well I pulled the MINI out of the garage so I could spend the day cleaning the bread van, aka GTI. Man was it ever coated in road grime & bug guts. Later this week I'll clean out the inside & vacuum up the donut crumbs.

Today I pulled the MINI out of the garage again & put new plugs & coils in the bread van. Later this week I'll drain the sump & add some new Mobil 1 0w40. 5,000 miles on the old stuff so it's time.

Changed the earl of crankcase in the German bread van. Mobil 1 0w40 & a Mann filter.

Sending a sample off to Blackstone to see the general health of the engine. Bet they tell me to run the oil until 10K. No way I'll ever go past 5K.

I had Lamin-X on my R53's lights. It held up great. I never did get around to putting it on Babs R55.

Her car sat outside for 7 years so it's not surprising there was so much sun damage to those lights. It now has a garage stall to use so hopefully that sun problem won't happen again.
