Yep. For me in NC, they mostly use Ka band, so it provides some function. I was in the back of a 20 MINI car line up and was calling out radar hits for the guy in the front of the line. I'm not a speed demon, but the occasional chirp from the detector is appreciated if I'm not on cruise control or if the speed limit changes and I missed it.
I got 2 speeding tickets back in 2006, right after I got my first MINI. One of them was a speed trap... an incredibly short off-ramp from the highway where you were expected to go from 65 to 35 in a handful of yards. If you met the speed limit, then the cop would have written you up for unsafe driving for braking too hard. The other time I was on a highway, matching speed with other cars. Honestly, I think the Cop just wanted to check out the MINI, so he picked me to pull over. I did get one speed warning in 2016 or so, but I was being very well behaved on a small state road that was bouncing from 35 to 55 MPH every few miles. I happened to be in an out-of-state plated car that was loaded heavily (moving across country) and I got a warning... I think he really just wanted to look in the windows to see if I was moving drugs. I realized it when he was walking up, so I rolled down all of the windows. When he saw houseplants and 2 dogs in crates in the backseat, he let me go quickly.

Yes I have read about this. Man does it suck & if the farmer's lose there will be bad ramifications for all people who work on their cars.
I don't know if you've noticed this, but info on car repairs is getting hard to find. The days of buying a Bentley manual may be behind us. I've always bought a repair manual for each car I've owned. The MINI was the last car I was able to do that for.

Ok up date. The s2k would not start. My son called so I went to his house and we pushed it off and took it back to the dealer.
It seems I may have a bit of a reprieve.-

Went to see the car today. It's in a storage lot in a portable garage. It looks pretty good. I was told to leave it alone for two weeks to cure so no pictures yet but soon. I was looking at AGRANGE pits and I think he's looks a little better, but it's hard to tell. his bonnet is clean and mine has bonnet strips and black arches.
ps: where's DAVE O-

Brave me! I took the 2020 Clubby JCW to lunch today with a friend, yesterday it hit a high of 95, today we woke up to 34 and snow, it has rained and snowed off and on since last night around 10pm, the Clubby did well on the summer tires, road temps are up but outside temp was 37 in the Clubby. I can certify that I did not slip and slide in the slush, going on 425 miles on the Clubby since July 22, it is going to be a long time before I do a track day.
PPF, new strips on bonnett, barn doors and sides next week, hope it stays somewhat warm. Cold and snow sucks.

No smoke here, but oh man 9 hours of thunder & lightning. Bucketing down rain the whole time. We had it all Tornado warnings, Severe Thunderstorm warnings & finally Flood warnings.
Stay safe out there. Fire moves fast, keep an eye out & be ready to move. Your car should clean off easily with that super ceramic coat.-

All we had was 4 inches of wet heavy snow and a bunch of broken trees, potted flowers were put in the shed, house and garage, most of the outside flowers survived the freeze. Now for some warm. Early short winter in Colorado, you gotta love it or move South.

I have a question for everybody. How often have you taking your car to a shop to have something done (what ever) and they broke something else? This is the second time a detail shop pulled the the wrong thing for the bonnet release. They did a good job fixing it but. I had show the owner were it was but I guess he didn't tell the worker.

Got the part and put it in. Easy Peasy.
The turbo end wasn’t just cracked, it
was actually torn the whole way around
about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the end.
The rubber adapter plug on the inside (normal part of the oem hose) and some silicone tape
on the outside of the main plastic hose kept it
sealed enough to prevent any airflow codes
while I waited for the new part.
Also did a quick hand polish to my 11 year
old headlight lens to keep it looking more
like the 1 year old one on the other side.-

Looks like you may want to add a bit of air. As far as the oxidation goes, are those clear coated? If so you won't so a thing without removing the clear coat. If that is raw aluminium I'd guess you could polish it out with metal polish. I'd stay away from steal wool.

waiting on word to head over to the "shop" to install the rear diffuser. If I don't get the text soon, I'm contemplating getting into a back seat delete after all this time. No one is ever back there...it's happened twice that someone has ever ridden in the back.
There seems to be a wealth of info all over the www for DIY, so I may go that route, as any of the prefab options that still allow for access to the rear seat belt receivers don't offer any utilization of where the rear seats would go.-
