I had GIR picked up and transported to the shop. I tried messing around getting it to run better and solve the code issue, eventually getting to the point that it is no longer is running. I was told they won’t be able to get to it until tomorrow, hopefully it is not that bad and won’t empty my bank account.

Well got GIR back today. EWS and DME out of sync and they replaced the MAP sensor as well as a TMAP sensor. I guess the one I bought did not work. Nice to have it back on the road. I found an intermittent issue with the drivers window on the way home though . While you are driving it seems to want to reset it self. It won’t drop that half inch when you open the door either. Looking for a reset.

I think this is what I did to reset my windows. With the door closed, continue holding the switch for about 5-10 seconds after completely down, then continuing to hold the switch up for 5-10 seconds after completely up will reset the one touch down and drop when the door is open.

Fonzie, wow haven’t heard that name in a long time. What is happening is I am not getting the auto drop when I open the door, it is staying in the fully closed position. To tell you the truth it almost looks like it is a fraction of a bit higher than it should be. With the key in or out of the ignition the window is having intermediate “convulsions”. It will drop a fraction of an inch and then try to reseat itself in the fully closed position. It might happen once or multiple times in succession, go without for a period of time and happen again. If I lower the window height at auto drop height or lower it is fine, no issues. Reading your issue, thinking back on that day we were having freezing rain on and off, not normal for NC but it didn’t dawn on me that it could be the cause. I will have to check when I get home today. Looking through the Bentley though it did mention the procedure brought up earlier, holding the switch in the up position. All other fixes that I saw were physical, take door panel off, adjust so and so ext…. I am not finding anything else stating it could be a programming issue with say a module.

Well I owe you Beken. After work I hooked up the battery and went through the reset process, took three tries but it eventually came on line and is working as it should.

[emoji38][emoji38][emoji38] I’ll mentioned it if they can’t figure all this out. They are looking at it now. They did a reset and said the windows are working. They are running a test on the footwell module, supposedly it has something to do with window operations.

I think there was a recall on the footwell module about 8 or 9 years ago. Check it out if you didn't have it done already. Possible your car was included in that recall.

I didn't do anything with the MINI today... or for the last week. When I bought the new Audi, I figured I would still drive the MINI on nice weather days. Today was a nice weather day. I'm not driving it enough. Maybe I should sell it. But, although it is a good looking car that drives well, it is 15 years old, so I'm not going to get much money for it.

    Decisions. decisions.

Had to charge the battery today. That's what I get for not driving it enough.

Well, finally got the "convulsing window" thing worked out. Replaced the door latch actuator, what a PTA. I well be honest, I could not get the outer door handle cable attached. I spent half of last Saturday morning just on that one cable. Brought it to the shop yesterday, took them an hour. They suggested that if I ever try to replace another one (fat chance) I need to attach all the cables prior to securing the actuator. Which I did but that one kept popping out of the attachment. I went back to see if what they did and it looks like I had that one cable routed wrong, so that probably didn't help. Button everything up last night and vacuumed the interior. Dark by the time i got done and just happened to notice I have no reverse lights. Guess I get to take some readings tonight and see if I can figure it out.

Your not kidding. If it wasn’t tucked so far up in that corner it might not be to bad. I want to replace the seals on the door handles and side view mirrors, somebody is getting paid for that project.

Rufus is a garage queen (or King, I guess)... hell, even my "daily driver" has been in that same status since COVID and both my wife and I work from home.

Rufus got and engine flush, new oil, oil filter, cabin filter and spark plugs a few weeks ago... just the regular service. I've got a new supercharger belt out in the garage, but haven't gotten around to that yet. Anyway, it was a beautiful evening last night, so I pulled the cover off and went out for a nice 30 minute drive. It was absolutely time for the Italian tune-up (high rev blast down the highway) and he's running like a top! I stopped for a tank of gas, did a quick wipe-down with detailing spray and put the cover back on (and reconnected the battery charger).

It was nice to be back out and about! It was brisk and the tires weren't very grippy (ultra-high performance summer tires), but just a little street cruise was fun.

Thanks. I consider it a 20 footer. It’s a DD so it has “blemishes”. Seats are next on the list for replacement.

Crossed a MINI mileage milestone on February 23, 2022. Coincidentally, when I bought my MINI back in 2005, I ordered it on January 3, 2005 and picked it up and drove it away on February 23, 2005. It has been a fun time. I want to thank the you guys for coming along for the ride.

Hope you get your power back quickly. When a ice storm it us a few weeks ago we lost power for almost 4 days. I was not in town the first day and half. My poor wife had to get the generator out and hooked up on her own.

We were lucky they got power back on in about six hours. Battery backup sump pump, wood burning fireplace and all was good.

It’s always frustrating when you try to do maintenance/ repair work and create a problem, but the good news is the vehicle is repaired.

Weather has been pretty nice. Gave GIR a bath vacuumed the interior and drove him to work. Back has been feeling pretty good so he is getting more road time.
