I’m covering the helmet before it rains this time.

On another note thanks @Crashton and others for the spam reports. The one I got rid of last week really did a number on the sight. For some reason the function that lets me delete him and all his spam at one time did not work. Keep up the good work, if find it send a report and I will take care of it.

I ordered a couple of ceramic over coat for my car today. I had it ceramic coated last year. I just can't seem to ever get it to shine enough.

Yesterday in the middle of nowhere (betwixt Peachtree City and Newnan GA) she started pissing coolant out the backside of the engine. Luckily the car in front of me had to make a left turn, otherwise I might not have noticed the big cloud of steam I left behind me after being stopped for a bit, or the very strong smell of steamy coolant.... Pulled off immediately and shut her down, assessed the situation and called AAA. Thinking water pump or thermostat connecting pipe, should hear from the shop today. Made it almost 40k miles with no issues though! And I got to ride in a flat bed and chat with a fellow car enthusiast.

MINI on a flatbed, a rite of passage in MINI ownership. Very glad you caught it before you cooked the engine. My guess is the Jarvic 7 is leaking.

I helped a friend do a thermostat housing replacement on his Gen 2 car and had that same thought... looked a lot like an artificial heart!

No it's not the wife. It was me for not getting a tune before I made all the changes (mods, cam,head,header,exhaust,17%,2%,injectors,cai,intercooler ) and a few others a can't remember right now. So I blame myself.

When we started racing I put a giant light wired to the oil pressure switch. It really got your attention. I found in the heat of battle I couldn't be bothered to look at gauges. When we rallied I gave that job to my co-driver. :Stig:

I got my S' exhaust fixed for free on Wed....the heat shield had detached and was rubbing on the exhaust pipe. The repair guy put in new screws [away from the gas tank] to secure the shield.

On Thurs., I took my wife's S to the same guy. He found that her muffler had broken right at the exhaust pipe and welded in a piece to make the fix [safely]. Cost: $60.

All in all, a great week.

I would love to go someday, but I'm to old and it's just to far to go unless I hit the lottery. Then I could send me and the car air freight.

Yeah, I hate to let it go, but I have so many clients who have car collections, and most of the cars don't get driven enough. Those cars are constantly having problems. I'm pretty sure that AutoScope is going to find that my thermostat has stopped working -- because the car sat for too long. When I was driving the car almost daily, I rarely had anything go wrong. Cars are meant to be driven.

The R56S thermostat housing seems to be an item that needs replacing from time to time.

While it would be interesting to have a multitude of vehicles at this time in my life cycle just having one fun ride that brings a smile to me is really all I need.

If you had a Ferrari 250 GTO how often would you drive it?

As some of you know, I am an automotive photographer, working primarily in the classic car auction world. I know a lot of guys who own multiple car (one with over 300 of them.) Keeping a collection of even a dozen cars clean and running is difficult. The guys with 50 cars need a full time person just to keep up with them. These cars often don't get driven for months at a time, which causes things to go bad.

When I worked for a car magazine, the owner kept about 15 of his cars in the warehouse behind our offices. He rarely drove any of them -- the ones he drove were at his house. I actually tried to drive them on a regular basis just to keep them running, but even then, they didn't get enough serious driving to keep them running right. The muscle cars were the worst. He had a couple of Shelby GT500KRs that were very needy. His C4 ZR1 was a PITA, too.

That GTI is a awesome car and the DSG is a great trans. My wife just got a Honda Rebel Motorcycle with a DSG transmission. She loves it.
