The body paint in the bonnet is very susceptible to damage...
If you use harsh chemicals, it's real easy to accidentally take it down to the primer...
I pretty much just use a Meguiars car wash soap, and then the pressure washer, staying away from the alternator.

Paint your cover. Its plastic, that's why the high temperature required with powder coating would melt it. It should take paint just fine.

You could get some engine paint at the parts store that will last. I never bake it like the instructions say the engine heat will take care of that. Just make sure you get all the oil off the surface you are painting. Also @Metalman has a good idea. What color do you have in mind?
Here is what I did to my coil pack cover. I used model pant and it’s holding up ok.

Gloss Black. I think of changing all the red (hoses and boots ) to black so the bright work stands out more. I called Rustoleum print and they have a paint that's good to 200 degrees and works on plastic. Anybody know how hot the cover gets?

    ps/ the cover looks great.

Lots of places do it... You shouldn't have a problem finding a place in California...
Here's an example.... I did a quick search on the web... Has pricing for the work...

I think you are right. I'm going to change it back to red. It's not that I have to order the parts. I have several spares of just about everything.

Off subject . My bank got bought out by a other. So the last few months things have changed. Yesterday was the first day of the new bank and what a mess. First I can't get in to my account so I went online to see what I could do and nothing so I when to the bank. When I got there the parking lot was full ( I wasn't the only one with a problem). I talked to a tell and she gave me an appointment for 2 hours later. So I came back and talked to someone else and he said he wasn't sure but he said my user name was something else other than what I use. So today I well be going back with my laptop and see if they can get me into my account. I hate all this bull. I might be changing banks.

    I have a 3/8 and an 1/2. I use the 1/2 drive the most. It has both FT/LB and n/m. it goes up to 196.6 n/m or 145 ft/lb. The 3/8 is in/lb

The odometer passed 318888 kms today. It was supposed hit 320000 back in 2021, but we had this issue with COVID. It should cross the 320000 milestone around Christmas this year.

The Vancouver MINI Cooper Club did their annual run from Vancouver to Harrison Lake last weekend. We started with 21 cars, 2 of them joined us from Washington State and ended with 14. We got caught up in heavy traffic and a bunch of people got lost. I was the trailing sweeper car, but the three cars in front of me all split up and went three different directions and the same intersection. I could only chase one of them. Everybody was given a map of check points so we could all meet up at the next check point, but only a few of them made it there.

I was able to take a few pictures.

Got my bright work back today so it's time to put the car back together. I'm taking bets on how long that will take. I already have most of it done, but the dreaded intercooler.

I'm back and no bets. I'm a die hard and hate to not finish what I start. So I went back to the car and got that dam thing mounted. I cheated a little. I had some new factor boot that are easier to put on. I have the shop replace them with my red ones on Monday. Then off to the car show in a couple weeks.

This Saturday is the British car club’s annual Euro car show. I put the Helmet in it the first year I had it. Last year I put the Lotus in the show. My wife may enter her 66 bug but not the Mini. I will probably enter my X1/9, I thought about entering it and the Lotus. It’s in the grass and last year the Lotus got high sided on a hump, I don’t want a repeat.
    Anyway I take pictures.

I love Fuji cameras! There are a couple I want. I like that they do film simulation. I know I can do it in post but it's not the same. I also like the side, you're right Chuck the DLSR is big. Something smaller that could always be with me would be great. I love photography also!
I like this one due to the retro controls.

but this is the one I would like to get, it would be easy to keep with you
