Last Thursday I drove the Helmet to work on a rainy day. Got home the rain had stopped so I gave it a much needed bath.

Well, Summit Racing Equipment is hopping! I am still on temporary leave (55 years old and working Retail Customer Service, I will let the young people get their hours in and just be smart about staying home). Had to run to the “curb pickup” for some brake fluid for my wife’s Austin Mini. Now out and about!

Hahahaha...... how did I know I'd see these pics on MA?!
And to be fair... it's not all original paint. The dealership did respray the doors when I had some rust repairs done under warranty. Along with (eventually) a whole new right rear quarter panel to eliminate the taillight rust. Also, under warranty. The left rear taillight area was also reworked and repaired after my sister backed into it a couple years back.
But only the best can really tell.

My turn to whine. Meant to take skooby out to my eye doctor appointment. But Babs MINI is clean so I had to take the German bread van out in the slop instead. Worth the trip, eye doc says my eyes are now 20/20. Man I'm so happy that part of my life is now done & over.

It was a busy MINI weekend:
The GP came out of the garage and I had some fun putting a few miles on it. It will be my daily driver this week. Yesterday I purchased a slightly used Milltek exhaust to put on the car. It's the non-resonated version and I'm a little hesitant about that, but the price was right and I can always add a resonator if I don't like it.
Yesterday I also got the R52 out of storage and drove it home. It's my wife's DD in the summer.-

My wife and I are loving the
M240i ‘vert she got 6 months ago.
It’s going to get a real workout this
coming week after sitting at the curb
most of the last month or so.
Put the chassis on the sport setting and
push down with your right foot and the
6 cyl twin turbo really makes that little
car go. Manual transmission, too, of course.-

Oh yeah... What did I do to my MINI today? I had to wipe the drool off of Rufus. I had a guy out to fix a garage door issue on my wife's side of the garage and he was in love by the time he left a few hours later. Every time I went out to check on him or lend a hand, he had noticed another mod or had another question.

A bit more than a year ago, I stopped playing racing games because my Logitech G27 steering wheel stopped working. The common problem was the digital position encoder wheel had cracked from the heat. It sounded like a common issue and I wasn't going to spend another $500 on a new steering wheel for a game and I was not able to find another encoder wheel to attempt a fix myself. The manager of MINI Richmond (Vancouver BC area) messaged me last night and said he 3D printed a couple of them off for me and to come pick them up when I had time. I guess I'm going to have to tear that wheel apart and try and fix it afterall.

Put a couple of strips on and took it home. No problem.

The ABS and ASC has been over-sensitive since I had the brakes done 3 weeks ago. I just touch the brake pedal and intermittently, the ABS kicks in. I've been driving around with the ABS turned off the last couple of weeks.
So I took the car back in. It is an old car now so I figured it was close to time to replace the wheel speed sensor for the ABS. The shop did a scan and said they were getting a code on the wheelspeed sensor. The shop only charged me for the part and covered the labor under warranty, since it happened due to the service. I'm not happy that I had to replace the part, but glad the shop covered the labor.-

A couple weeks ago I located a lightly used resonated mid pipe for the Milltek exhaust sitting in my garage, so this weekend I pulled the JCW exhaust and installed the Milltek. The first surprise was finding the front hanger on the JCW exhaust had split in the middle causing the exhaust tube to crack and leak. I was hoping the Milltek would just bolt on and go, but it took some bending of the hangers to fit so it was fairly centered and the tips had clearance from the rear bumper. I also took the opportunity to install the Vibratechnics transmission mount I got from Colin.
