Washed the wife’s car today with the new DI water supply system. It was great washing an whole SUV in 102 degree heat with a little shade. Rinse down with DI water, soap whole car and wash really well, rinse with DI water and blow dry with Toro leaf blower. Not one water spot to be found anywhere even on the glass. I did not have to use any towels or quick detailer at all.

I decided the MINI needed some TLC, even though its 90F outside....
I warsched it, followed by an application of Kamikaze Water Spot Remover....
This stuff really works... (Yes... I didn't use wondow glass)
Followed by an application of Cosmic Spritz
Not bad looking for an 11 yr old MINI....

Not today, but yesterday. Went on a run to blow things out, see if that code would throw....it DID NOT. All settled!
While I was out, figured I'd fire up the drone, and made this today.

Took my Clubby 20 JCW down to a stripe and ppf shop on Wednesday, progress is being made. I should be able to pickup at 2pm Friday or a bit later. Full bonnet and bumper Xpel PPF, a bit across the CR roof back to the start of the sunroof, the black A-Pillars, door edges and then.... New euro style stripe front to rear and side stripes, going with a checkered CR side sweep with some black accent in the checkers. Euro stripe in full gloss black with red pins in varied size. I will post a picture or two after I see it in person. Yes, I am ditching the tradition MINI stripes for something I hope is unique to this area. We shall see.
Btw, a few weeks past some folks asked about cost of Ceramic Coatings, these folks do that too. Cost is base of $500 for the coating but paint correction is variable lowest being $100 for a simple correction, a two to four day process depending on correction to the paint. So maybe before winter these guys can do some ceramic work for me.
Only drawback, is there shop is a shared space with a performance tuner, it is busy as hell and crowded. They have a nice slice of the shop but I can imagine that place during a work day and I cringe. Also, the area is old town industrial, I would not leave any nice car outside over night.
So, look for pictures to be posted in the garage soon.
Stay safe, mask up,
Don-

Installed this kewl hatch cover for my R56 ~ previous owners had dog hair embedded into carpet or material in hatch tried to vacuum but it still showed so this is a great alternative! $138 free shipping from AliExpress I think it came out great

Over the weekend, it cooled down to below freezing so I cleaned out the interior all 3 of our MINIs and took out the carpet floor mats and installed the winter rubber mats. Then opened up the bonnet and checked the belts, oil and coolant. Vacuumed out any sand and grit in the places where there shouldn't be any and wiped down the area. Was going to changeover to the winter tires but just noticed it will be warming back up again tomorrow. So I will wait a few days to see if I need to change over to them yet.

Solo Motoring in the rain (COVID responsible). Reifel Island bird sanctuary to downtown Ladner BC, highlighted by crossing a single lane wooden bridge. 10 minutes of your life you'll never get back if you sit and watch the whole thing.

Today it's 60* outside, so all of the cars are going to get a bath - and they all need it badly! The classic lives in the garage so it will stay fairly clean, the others it will only last till Thursday where we're expected to get snow!
Oh, also cleaning out the gutters and reattaching one where it's come loose from the soffit - not exactly Mini/MINI work, but it is over the garage - where the Mini/MINIs live!-

Have a few tags to heat back/trim, and tidy up the scuttle locations, but next up will be the grills. Snow delayed what I'm thinking will be the final mesh. Scored some edge lock that's used for marine applications, cleans up the inside of the gill nicely, and will roll it to make sure its doesn't have any flat spots along the curve inside.

Crossed another odometer mileage milestone. Without the COVID thing going on, I would have crossed 300,000 by now. Maybe end of year, or next year.
It took me a bit to find a place to stop to take the picture.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.-

Drove Skooby to the gas station for a fill up of 93. Then to the car warsh, on home to clean door jams & wheels. Shines like a Hot Chocolate Easter bunny! Lady Babs is very happy.
Next job is off with the snow shoes, but I'll most likely wait another week or so.-
