Replaced the club door release lever on
my R55. The upper plastic bit that
holds the spring broke, leaving the
lever askew and sticky.
Needed to pry the lever out so that the door
could be opened with the handle.
Easy to replace. Just remember to attach a
string or wire to the top of the cable before
pulling it out so you can easily thread the
new one back up through the door guts.
Hardest thing was finding a trim screw
that I dropped into the curbside grass.

Sorry. I haven't been on much of late. I've been out motoring. Guess what? You're allowed to drive your car on the beach at Long Beach, Washington. Just make sure you get back in before the tide comes in.

Spent yesterday replacing the door speakers in GIR. I did some testing while I was in there. But it sounds pretty good if I say so myself. I need to do a little modding to the door panels and see if I can figure out how to get the AXXCESS control to work with the steering wheel.

USPS delivered the "UltraGauge" this morning... Seems to be a fairly capable CAN monitor with 63 monitoring possibilities...
Has the ability of setting alarms on selected sensors and can clear codes...
The 3M PSA mount has a flexible flap that contours to the curved dash trim and the position can be angled for easy viewing...

Went to a morning Cars & Coffee sponsored by a MINI (and other brands) dealership. They had a separate parking area just for MINIs, and we had about 20 or so MINIs participating.

Sorry, haven't been on here for awhile. Been busy. This retirement gig has been less stressful than my previous employer, but extremely busy. Our local MINI club went did an ice cream meet up and run recently. This coming weekend, is our annual Harrison Lake drive.

I put the winter tires and wheels on the Countryman today. Also topped up the washer fluid and put the winter (rubber) floor mats back in the car. As of October 1, winter tires are mandatory for driving in the British Columbia outside of the Vancouver BC area. It's Ice wine grape harvesting season soon, so I will probably be making a trip to the Okanagan region for some new wine in the next week or so.

Took the MINI out for a run today and got the candy corn down to something less than one candy (19 miles to empty)...
Stopped by Sheetz and filled the tank with 100% ethanol free... Took 12.64 gallons of the pure stuff...
Getting it ready for hibernation...-

Well, the snow finally came to the Vancouver BC area today. I haven't been on Motoring Alliance for awhile because I have been shuttling my parents around the past few months. My mom has alzheimers and my dad is in his mid 90's and physically deteriorating. Today, most of the roads in Vancouver BC were shut down due to too many other drivers not having proper winter tires on. For what it's worth, my cars are fully winterized with the correct tires. But the risk is too high. So I stayed home and shovelled snow instead.

Having fun touching up the top
surface of my front bumper.
Prep (including spot priming)
takes 10 x longer than the
actual spraying with
color and clear coat.

Hovered the MINI today...
Changed the original 15 YO serpentine belt... Checked the harmonica pulley (thanks Chuck)..
Also greased the rear outa-control arms...
Looked for rust while under the MINI... Couldn't find any... Not driving it in salty Ohio winters probably is a good thing...
