in the famous last words of Steve Jobs...."and one more thing".
Seeing as I have a new job after a couple years of uncertainty over a former employer (a certain film and imaging equipment company) filing for bankruptcy, then being unemployed for almost a year, I finally have my first paycheck in quite awhile. Being unemployed for so long really kills one's self confidence and the MINI community has been around to kind of keep my life in some semblance of balance. So it's time I upgraded my membership and contribute a bit to keep this great site going. Paypal transaction has been sent. :biggrin5:

(Yesterday) met up with a few MINI friends and took them to a private car show to gawk at some lovely classics and what turned out to be an over-abundance of Ford GTs.

I picked up my brand new '14 MCS Roadster from MINI of Sterling today! I'm an official MINI owner. We're under a tornado watch in Fairfax County until 5:00 PM EST, so I'm not motoring anywhere today!

I slayed the Dragon!
I wanted to take some pictures of the Fall colors, but we're not quite there yet in NW Georgia. My buddy wanted to go, so we went to went over the mountain to Elijay. Took a few shots from atop the mountain, but the colors weren't there. We decided to run up to Blue Ridge. Not a lot action there either, so we went up towards Murphy, NC.
Once we were in Murphy, I figured that I'd suggest we come back through Maryville and back down the freeway. As it turns out, US 129 was the right road to take! :biggrin5: (My buddy didn't know anything about the Dragon or it's lore.)
We had a good time up there. Just made one run through, but we picked up some stickers, hat pins, and knick-knacks at the stores. I took a few pix just for fun. I want to go to MOTD in the spring!

Installed (if you can call it that) my Craven dipstick today (thanks Way, for the MA group-buy).
Comments:
A) It's a lot more flippy-floppy than I thought it would be... LOTS more! After 50+ years of cramming fencing rapiers into tubes attached to engine blocks, dropping this wiggly-worm in was a bit disconcerting. Upon reflection, it makes perfect sense, as a stiffer worm that needed forced insertion would be almost impossible to get it in due to its flexibility.
B) I can read my MINI's oil level easily now!!!!-
