Well I had one heck of a day!

Went on a combo club run between MINI5280, and MINICOW...

Lost my front lip to the Rat (just the little added on piece I made from the original S bumper) somewhere along the way...

Also went into a flat corner a little hot on cold tires, hit a patch of sand, and ran out of talent... The tail lights said "Ooo ME FIRST!" And I spun it around.

No damage, never left the asphalt, and just rode it out, because our runs get "spirited" when we are out and away from other traffic, and we all pay attention to everybody in the group.

Gave a wave to the car that was behind (in front depending on your perspective) and continued on.

Also almost got stopped at our lunch break (probably for the noise of the exhaust) while giving a ride to R53Junkie (Tristan)... Gave everybody a nice bounce off the rev limiter pulling back into the park, but no lights, and the state trooper just passed by.

Glad I could get all of that out of the way before next week!

Rear shocks where softened up another click, now the back end isnt as tail happy. ;)

Considering trading it in on an appliance for my wife to drive. She's currently driving an suv that is paid for, everything on it actually works and it's inexpensive to maintain, but her daily commute is about 50 miles round trip-mine is 22. My mini currently doesn't have functional air conditioning, the power locks have stopped working, it needs various mounts and bushings replaced and oh yeah, the midlands box has been (occasionally, but increasing in frequency) making a nice crunchy sound above 3k. If I do go through with it, the search for a lower mileage 2005-6 R53 will commence later this year.

Fuel Filter problems! Car won't start!

Today and yesterday were both big days for Good ole' Gerty. I changed the fuel filter yesterday and for some reason she wouldn't start, she would turn over but wouldn't start. So I made a few trips to the gas station with a gas tank to fill her up. To no avail she still wouldn't budge. The next morning I opened up the fuel filter compartment again and found the O-ring was just lying around the filter, doing nothing. I deduced that there wasn't enough pressure/suction. I went to my neighborhood Euro Shop (Shout out to Blagoi's International Car Service) and they asked quality questions then eventually landed on 'which filter are you using?' I said Valeo or something and the two mechanics at the counter kindly informed me that aftermarket filters can sometimes be hinkey. Within an hour they had ran out and got me an OEM filter. I put it in and she fired up without hesitation! Now according to the MPG reader I am getting 2.5 mpg better than I was!

    Cheers!

Took my MINI replacement for a 270 mile drive on some of Southern Ohio's best back roads. The car is dirty, I'm tired, but I have a big smile on my face..... :D

MINI related in that there is one in the picture, but helped Crashton install his RSB on his GTI and got a visit from a new to the group mkIV GTI. Was going to get a better group shot, but the mkIV was missing it's front grill (it was recovering on the garage floor from it's 3rd coat of plasti dip).

Today I ran the Rat down the Dragon firs thing in the morning... A clean run for the most part, at a brisk 30MPH!

Captured this pic at Tabcat Bridge, after the smoke stopped coming off of them... Thats how you know you did it right! :D

Today I changed the oil, brake fluid, and coolant in my 2005 R52S. I took it to the dealer as I wanted a complete inspection as I just purchased the car 4.27.2015. The dealer also did 2 out of 3 recalls on the car. The upgrade they didn't do was a software upgrade. I had 'Pepper' tuned by Jan at the Dragon and Jan told me that I already had the lasted software upgrade. Now only the detailing is left to do... and that is a lot.

Pulled the scoop grill out and opened up all the factory sealed holes. Went from 12 openings to 26.

One half hour of drill and dremel work and now my scoop is not just an ornament.

That is quite possibly the worst pic I have ever seen from you... Not because bad photography, but because Ranger. :(

But good call saving the fun car from the not so fun daily drive. :)
