I used to have a IASCA sound competition car back in the day loaded with MB Quarts, 2 JL Audio 12’s in a bandpass (4) HiPhonics Amps and 4 way electronic cross overs and a 32 band EQ both by HiPhonics, I had a Richard Clark audio noise gate and two 1 Farad caps with an Eclipse Heat unit and lots of Dynamat all came to 490 watts at 4 Ohms. We were all rated at 4 ohm ratings and I was in the 250-500 watt class but had a total of 1,050 watts and 2 and 1 ohms. This allowed me to win lots of 1st place trophies and I came in 3rd at Nationals.

Nowadays I still like my music but on a less grander scale. I installed an Alpine Headunit that has no CD player but is a media unit and has a very high output voltage for low signal to noise ratio. I have a nice iPod Classic 160 in the glovebox hard wired to the HU. I have 3 pair of audio quest rca cables running to the underside of my rear seat delete to 1 Alpine digital 900W by 5 amp. One output feeds 500 watts to a JL 10-W3. The other 4 outputs feed 100w to the other locations. The rears are just 2 Infinity Kappa 2 way 6x9s in the factory location. For the fronts I went back to high end speakers and got a set of Focal ES 165KX2 separates with passive crossovers. I hand applied Dynamat to my Mini covering the entire floor, inner and outer doors and rear quarters. When the music off In my car, it is as quite inside as my wife’s Lexus.

I like my music crisp, clear with the full spectrum on sound which does include bass. BUT I don’t like big Boom & Tisk sound systems where you only her cymbals and big bass drums from 4 blocks away.

We've been going through the my old R53. Now that the new header (Thanks Thumper) is on, and waiting for the sprintex sc to come in, it's exciting to see things coming back together. New header got ceramic coating last week, as well as a bunch of other bits and bobs, new rear trailing arms from an 06 are on, new hubs, axles, dampener, chain, oil catch can, stainless tanks...fuel system has been gone through..subframe is cleaned up with new lines, shield, and tie rod ends in...all sorts of stuff. I need to get the pics off my phone and onto the pc.

Ordered a Spec Stage 3 clutch and lightweight flywheel. They don't have it listed on the website because they haven't developed the flywheel yet. They're going to use my stock flywheel as the template.

Up at MOTD! Ran into the group up at Fontana :) We've got a fun bunch of guys over there. Letting Bitsy cool down before heading over to Robbinsville for some dinner than back to the cabin and up early for some Dragon runs in the AM.

Got mine all spiffed up this morning. Now I'm trying to get it packed. You'd think that with a year to plan and prepare that it wouldn't come down to the last minute. Oh well, nothing new. I packed for a year in Korea in the thirty minutes before leaving for my flight.
Mini is nice and shiny now so the bugs can see it better.

I ran the NCS Expert software on my Dark Silver Mini today, coding out all sorts of annoying bulb checks and auto-lock timers, changed how the remote works (unlock all on one button - how hard can that be, Mini?), no auto locking doors any longer. LEDs inside the boot are now flicker free, LEDs above rear license plate is flicker free, etc time to check out LEDs in the high/low beams on that car before I go all medieval on these non Xenon housings to put some proper HID projects in there.

I took my MINI to an All British and European Car Day today. It used to be an all British car day, but they expanded it. It was still 80-percent British. Not many MINIs though -- total of 8 during the day. Lot's of MGs, Triumphs and Jaguars.

I met the owner of a rare Land Rover, and told him I was certain that I photographed his US model Defender 110 and wrote and article about it. He had no idea what I was talking about. But, when I got home, I checked the numbers, and it was his LR -- #47/500 made for the US. I sent him a PDF of the Magazine article. He was thrilled.

Thats an R53 next to my MINI, then four classic Minis, and there was another classic in the wrong part of the park, and an F56 MCS that showed up briefly.

And for how dirty she was... still looked cleaner than most cars that would have made the same trip.

Drove the Mini for the first time since returning from MOTD. Got caught in a real toad-strangler on the way home. Hit a couple of spots where the water was over the front splitter. It was still nice after being stuck driving the Galactic Cruiser for the last couple weeks.

Not today, but yesterday I ordered a set of RMW coil overs from Jan. Not these exact ones, but similar.

Did a full detail inside and out side on the wife’s Lexus RX 350 today. It was not very hot outside but damn was it humid. Now her car looks and smells new again. Who she get it so dirty only driving it once a week is a mystery.

After I was done with her car I figured why not wash my car while everything was already out and put it back in the garage.

Replaced the post cat O2 sensor. Took way too long too figure out the 2 electrical connector releases. Once I got that sorted, the job took 10 minutes to replace the old one with the new NTK sensor.

Upon starting the car, the CEL immediately went out. In case you're curious, it was the 0138 code, short circuit in the O2 sensor. Tried clearing it 4 times among resetting adaptives, but it wouldn't clear. At least it gone for now.
