Thanks folks, only time and lots of effort ahead. Grandma is out East for a few more weeks, then home for a bit, it will all work out, I am optimistic as hell. Don

It’s easy to see why you did so well in the judging.

Today I took my MINI off the battery tender and warmed it up for 20 minutes. After she was up to temp I took a nice run to drop off some stuff and good high speed blast down a straight road with the Meth on to clean everything out and stretch her legs. All is good except snow tires have horrible traction when the roads are dry. I took her back and put her in the garage for a very cold weekend with snow and -20 wind chill.

Took mine about for a nice run and filled the tank with Shell 93 for the first time this year. Then I washed it when it was 33 degrees out.

Today it was a nice warm 43 degrees out so I washed the wife’s car. Did not feel like 43 in the shade with the wind but hay the driveway did not freeze today while wash, rinse and drying. :p:eek:

Dave.O would be pleased to know my LXM grill badge (on the rear of the car) fell off or was taken yesterday.

I have replaced it with a Motoring Alliance badge.

My understanding is that the rings were most likely broken. I spent twelve grand to keep the car on the road for three years. I just needed a vehicle, and couldn't throw any more money at this.

Today I polished the lights on the R53, it’s really time for new ones! Yesterday I pulled the cover half way back and started the R58. It’s been hibernating for a month or two and will till spring. I also ordered a ceramic coating kit for it. Thanks @Dave.0 for the help on what to order.

Wow beken you are lucky. Just a wheel & tire. Could have been much worse for sure. Well you got new wheels so that is good. You might try & track down the construction companies insurance company. They might pay you for one wheel & tire.

Also maybe you can add a spacer to your spare tire kit. That may help it clear the caliper. Once again glad you survived.

Thankful our MINIs can make abrupt directional changes when called upon.
I did call the police when I got home to tell them of the situation. The next day all the signs were bolted down to the top of flat deck trailers on the side of the highway and the highway was noticeable swept clean. Then the salt trucks appeared to prepare for the big snowfall.

The weather has sucked here most of the last month. So, I haven't done much but basic point A to point B driving. It is supposed to be nice for a few days starting tomorrow, so maybe I'll get a car wash and go for a drive to "wherever the F I feel like." I need one of those. Big time cabin fever.

Here's an interesting update: The guy who bought my car pulled the head and found a valve with a chunk out of it. The dealer told me it needed an engine, cylinder 3 walls were badly scored, probably broken rings, and the valves were fine. It had a 2 year parts and labor warranty on the work done-full top end rebuild. End result: I sold the car for much less than it was worth running, I spent a fortune on the top end work. (mistake having the dealer do it in the first place, but 2 year warranty good in theory) The guy who bought it can have it fixed under warranty. I will be visiting the dealer shortly, I'm giving myself time to wind down a bit so I don't choke someone out.

I used to do that. A couple of decades ago. I would fill 5 gallon buckets with warm water from the bathtub and go wash my IROC.

I replaced the ABS control module on the R53 two of the three lights went out. I’m still getting a 5E1 4 code, ABS DSC CAN connection to DME/DDE (DSC lamp on until ignition reset) I still have to bleed the system. If any knows how to get rid of this code that would be helpful.
Oh and @Crashton turned me on to these great brake lines

    http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=39

If I get them I won’t even have to crack to bleed valves. Thanks Chuck

I just ordered new sway bar bushings for my S. The present ones are driving me nuts with their constant squawking. It doesn't matter if it's a smooth road, a bumpy road, good weather or bad...ugh.

new steering shaft installed today on my wife's R53! Costly, but now the car drives like brand new. Now, I gotta see Chad about the worn out front lower control arm bushings....

I found it rather amusing watching a bug land on the hood of my Countryman just after I buffed off a fresh coat of wax. It struggled for grip as it slid off the bonnet and fell off.

My personal opinion of Griot's wax is it's pretty good stuff.
