Replaced the left front wheel arch
trim, reflector and bulb, socket and
    connector. See post 17132 above.
Put Geon Trim Q2 on the arch.
Should probably re-apply to the other 3
since it’s been about half a year since
    the last application.
Also replaced the clips on the rear right
    arch which weren’t very secure.

Next things on the to do list are:

Noisemaker delete. May take out the
Vanos solenoid and clean it up at the
same time as it will be easier to get to.

    Transmission magnetic drain plug and
send sample for used oil analysis
(I wonder what the specs are on LT-3
gear oil as no one seems to know yet
    and BMW doesn’t publish them)

G-LOC GS-1 brake pads and plain
    Zimmerman rotors).

Tomorrow I take the Helmet to put it on a dyno. $175 4 runs. I will be doing it at 8am before the heat of the day. It was going to be 3 runs but I told them I wanted to do two runs with the tune turned on and one with it off to see the stock numbers. They said they would do two and two.
    We'll see how it goes.
Years ago I took the R53 to a dyno day, by the time they got my car on the dyno it was raining and the guy was not sure what gear to do the pulls in. I am not sure he knew what he was doing. Anyway it had 160 at the wheels with the 17% pulley, exhaust, and CAI. That was a bit of a disappointment, I thought it would be about 180. I know the helmet will be more but this time I have no expectations.

I wanted some bace numbers for when I add some mods.

Different parking spot or chainsaw could be possible solutions. :)

Got the blue Clubby in for some much needed maintenance before I tow the Racing Green classic to Aspen next month....fresh oil and filter, checked all the brakes, changed the coolant, flushed the brake fluid (don't need to boil the fluid on the way back down the mountain!) and on inspecting the tires, ordered a new set from Tire Rack this morning.

I cleaned my car and this weekend I will take off the A pillars and lower glass trim so the new windshield can go in next Tuesday.

Pilkington windshield w/rain sensor installed at my house $300.00.

The dealership’s can suck it asking for $1,100.00 for a windshield. Hahahahaha

Heading out in the classic Mini to crash a local Triumph Club picnic (naw, I was invited - along with the local MG club) They're having an interesting feature, the picnic is in Shawnee Mission Park which has a several mile long ring road around it, and they offered to let people drive club member's cars - around the park road and with the owner aboard. This is a chance to drive that TR3 or MG TD you always wondered about! Should be fun! The weather should be perfect too - 75* and sunny.

Today I took off my A-Pillar trim and front belt line trim for the glass guy coming tomorrow to install my new Pilkington windshield. This makes it windshield #4 and only $300.00 installed at my house.

Sunday, my good friend Rich C and I got up early and went out to High Plains Raceway for a lapping day, we chose the intermediate class so we could enjoy the open lapping.

We had a great day, it was blue skies until around 3pm when it started to get real dark and cloudy, so we packed it up. My Countryman did pretty well, if I decide to keep it for another 2 years, I know what it needs to be trackable and somewhat faster, a nice rear swaybar (NM I think), possibly 1 inch lower all around, open the exhaust up a bit just so I can hear the revs, and some sticky tires, the all-seasons squealed like a small herd of piggies on every corner.

Rich set a personal best with his 04 R53, mildly modded of a 2:20 full track layout, not bad at all since it has bee 4 years since we last were at HPR. I was running around 2:22.

We did surprise a few of the guys out in the groups, last session was all newbies and blue folks (intermediate), I set the pole position and held it for 2 full laps, then 4 or 5 slipped by, I can say the Ford Focus RS and a nice subi sti are fast and could be faster with stickier tires. The surprise was a Honda Fastback with an Honda Infinity 2.0 engine swap, nicely setup. He caught me at the end of Highway Strait (a long pull) and took the inside line between 4 and 5, I kept with him for a bit, but the CM wallows like a pig.

Rich gave him a good run and then Rich pulled away from him, which really shocked the crap out of him, we talked after when we were loading up and I went over to see what he had done to the Honda FB. I think his ecu was getting hot and he was miss firing, so it might explain why Rick pulled away but then Rich's Blu is named appropriate "Blu-by-you"....

I will post up a picture or two when I get some digital from the track photographer.

    Don

A few of my double pane windows are fogged, but that's going to have to wait. My current job is replacing all the fences that fell down because the wood posts rotted out. I have done one, so far, and it may outlive me. Galvanized steel posts, all cedar lumber, and stainless steel screws -- no nails.

Right now, my MINI just fits in the garage. But it is in there, and safe from Spring/early Summer North Texas weather, which often includes large hail.

I need to detail it, but that will also have to wait. Right now, I just take it to the car wash when it is dirty. It needs an oil change, and one of my customers, RAC Performance, owes me some favors, so I can get the oil change for free. It is also fun to see what they have in the shop and used car inventory. The last time I was there, they had a brand new Ford GT in for a full XPEL wrap.

Yesterday I washed the R53 and put it away in the garage. Then changed the oil and rotated the tires on the Helmet. While the wheels were off I washed the suspension, brakes and the rims.
    Today I washed the Helmet.

Nothing today but errands. Tomorrow I am getting an oil change at RAC Performance, as well as a complete safety check. I am going on a 600+ mile round trip to Port Arthur this weekend for my 40-year HS reunion. Man, I'm getting old.

I have a nice rental car reserved, just in case RAC finds some reason my MINI isn't up to the long drive, but the drive is mostly country roads through east Texas, so I'd prefer to take the MINI. I hope to cancel the rental.

Nothing done yesterday...let the 1973 Leyland Australia Mini rest after the +3,000 miles return trip to Mini Meet East Meets in Snowmass, Colorado. Three Classic Minis travelled together - a modified 1962 'Woody' Countryman (1275cc/"S" disc brakes), a modified 1976 Mini 1000 Canadian market
sedan (1275cc/disc brakes), 1973 modified 1185cc/8.4" disc brakes.

We took 3 days to get from Fraser Valley, near Metro Vancouver in British Columbia to Snowmass and 5 days home via Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks. PHOTO: 3 Minis & 3 Grand Tetons

Didn’t get the driveway rearranged and the ‘new’ mini in the garage before this shit started. It might wash the half million dead bugs off.
