Fixed the top grille, PO had stripped the plastic screws that old it to the bonnet and tried fixing it with a hot glue gun. I went in with some heavy duty epoxy and tightened it up. Found some left over black plastidip and decided to dip the gas cap. It matches the matte finish of the wheel well moulding very well, i like it.

Not sure if I was supposed to like this post or be disgusted at the birds.
Did you wash your car this morning or yesterday? That usually incites rain or birds.

A good glass sealent (not glass like rainX) will repel bird dropping and protect even MINI paint.

Well the day started with such promise! It was cloudy yet warm with a nice breeze. The plan was to clean the interior and wash and wax. Went to the parts store and thought I will clay it then wax. Got home was about to start and was looking at the flag on the roof. I thought its looking a little tattered. Well I decided I will remove it then wash, clay, and wax. I am not so bright! The first time I left the flag on too long and it took 2 days with a heat gun to get it off then clean the glue. The glue was the easy part, a little goo gone and it was off. Well this time the vinyl came off easy, the glue not so much.

Today I tried every chemical know to man to get the glue off! Some how the paint has survived the first day of chemicals. about 75% is off. Tomorrow I will try again but I will only have about one hour to work on it. I am not sure what I got on my windshield but it has a nice haze all over it. Yes I washed the hole car and the windshield twice.

    I feel my age tonight!:frown2:

Finally made the transition to my summers... decided to go back to my 16" OZ wheels.

Liked them on my 17" TeamDynamics... figured I'd give them a shot in 16".

(They are 205/55/R16 if you can't make it out.)

Gave my '70 an alignment on Friday. No simple task getting it right, but well worth the effort.

I finally bought a trailer (Reese Backpacker) to carry me wife's scooter to the dragon. Got it registered, bought new wheels & tires, and weather seals which I'll do today and clean it up. Starting to get ready for the Dragon...:)

Spent yesterday tweaking ride height, caster, alignment. Today, removed the seat heater wiring I worked so hard on, and removed the passenger seat, in preparation for a new seat that arrives tomorrow. Gonna sell the Corbeaus, probably have a buyer lined up already.

Finally wired the lights on my oil pressure and temp gauges.

Drove for about an hour and a half, alignment is perfect. Bliss.

Sounds like a case of a lazy tech to me.

Over the weekend did the Dave O wheel treatment, painted the rotor hats black, touched up the calipers, trimmed the inside edge of the rear fender plastic for clearance and polished out some scratches.

Clay bar, Swirl, and Epic on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, while watching Stanley Cup playoffs on the garage TV. All I needed was an Old Milwaukee. :beer

I went to Griot's garage with Salish Sea Mini Club for a detailing tech session. They had a new product called a Surface Prep Mitt.
It does the same thing as a clay bar, but cleans a much larger area and it lasts a lot longer.

I was really impressed with the job it did on the club members car, they used as a demonstration vehicle.

    Fine Surface Prep Mitt
