I finally started painting the bumper trim and grill slats on the Rat-MINI!

It only took two years of thinking about it, but it was bound to happen... Eventually.[emoji12]

As always the pictures don't show the details, but they're also not quite done yet... Still gotta add some age to that nasty pitted chrome look. [emoji12]

And NO the spikes aren't going back on. [emoji2]

Well, since finding a DOS intake is near impossible, and the folks that are selling one want around 300 bux for it, I bought some parts and made my own. Looks kinda shotty I suppose but this was my test mock up if you will. It's in the car now and sounds LOUD. I'm hearing noises I didn't think my car was capable of making. It works, but I'm gonna order another fire wall cover (don't know what that cowl piece is called) and I want to throw a 90 elbow on at the MAF, then filter, then another 90 elbow into the wall further away from the vents above the filter in it's current position. I do like a short ram, but I want to get more towards the original idea I had for a home made intake. I had all the parts to do the mentioned double elbows but the in-end of the filter housing is 4" and I'll have to find one of those on the interwebs.

No problems... There are detailed instructions you can download http://duplicolor.com/product/bed-armor-truck-bed-coating-aerosol on the product.... I used painter's tape and pulled it off before it had set up after the last coat.... I pretty much covered up all of the front bumper and part way up the bonnet and covered the MINI with 3 mil plastic just to guard against any airborne overspray that might settle on the MINI...

You do need to constantly keep shaking the can to keep the kevlar particles suspended... I really like the texture and color match to the wheel well trim....

Drove to work. Drove home. Then gave it a quick wash. Afterwards, cracked open a tasty treat.

Reworked my homemade intake. Almost complete, Have a K&N Apollo coming in to replace the el-cheapo mock up filter. Then I'll wrap all the tubing in that heat reflective tape. Have a replacement cowl piece coming as well since I turned this one into Swiss Cheese :)

Firebro, I'll be interested to hear if you like that short shifter. My buddy has one (KAD like yours) and I hated it, even after I got used to it. The throws may have been longer in Buzz with his standard rod change shifter, but so what? it was butter smooth and two fingers easy - with the KAD? not so much - vague, hard to find the gears and stiff.

Another guy had one in his P'up - same results, almost undriveable till you get used to it, then it was just no fun......

    Hope your results are better......

Finished work today... Pointed my MINI towards home and said "Git"

With instructions to "git" in front of everyone headed in the same direction...

    Was successful...:D

Saw a lot of officers out giving tickets..... But not to me... And I'm OK with that....

On the way home I took my usual freeway exit. It is a suggested 35 mph, 270 degree turn to an overpass. A car was following me too closely as I entered the off ramp, I didn't slow down from the 60 mph freeway speed and came off of the off ramp onto the street, still doing about 60 mph. The MINI took the turn in stride, no squealing tires or anything, it just turned! I was a good 1/4 mile down the road, before I saw the tailgater come off of the exit.

I've done that off ramp at fifty mph before but never sixty. I think the MINI will do corners much faster than I care to drive! I can safely say that I can save my money with suspension upgrades, I don't need 'em.
