Thanks guys! I would never ride the Dragon at 15 MPH thats too fast. Besides I hear there is a red MINI running meth that needs to be slowed down.:D Now when I weld I put on my asbestos shorts.

Drove to the store. Yawn. The MINI is really dirty, and I need to wash it, but it is raining every other day right now. I can't complain, since the reservoirs are full, and in another month, it will stop raining for three months, if not more. Nowadays, it is either flooding or drought.

Today, we found out you can transport a large boxed toilet in the back of a Countryman with lots of room left over.

Only thing it took two people from HD to lift it into the CM, but we were able to take it out just fine and put it into the garage, handyman coming over Monday to install. The final little bit of tile work will be finished, I hope.

I did dust my Countryman today too, pollen is getting worse.

    :)

I know others are doing stuff with their MINIs. :)

This to me is a sad posting, on Saturday I had the 16 CM out and a long day planned and executed, started great, C&C in Lafayette - lots of everything, wonderful and busy, busy. In the afternoon I drove down to Littleton for the Schomp MINI open house and BBQ (free food) as they have all 3 stores along C470 in Highlands Ranch. New MINI facility is stellar. From commentary it is now the largest in the USA. I even worked in a tire rotation since I was overdue at 7200 miles since I came back from the Dragon, picture an SA area that is 6 lanes across, great setup.

The not so sweet part of the day, as some know I like to take pictures, thus I decided to go visit my FAV Camera store near the Old Schomp MINI facility, just a quick look at a camera new OLY Pen 4, that I am going to buy when the Stuff/Gun account gets fuller.

Anyway, my 16 Countryman took one on the chin by a nice old lady as she had finished her shopping at the camera store, getting to the point, she backed into the left front of Pennylane, got the left front head light, bumper and it appears she may have pushed the bonnet up and to the right, gaps are larger etc. I was able to drive home, park and consider a beer or a nice glass of Scotch, to tired so relaxed and went to get a nights sleep.

Question to the folks here, is a bump like this going to cause a diminished value situation on my 2016 Countryman PL? :( :frown2: I figure 3 or 4K to repair.

Earl gray is not going to be any easy color to blend, I am thinking. I will need to get the clear bra redone as she (the 07 4Runner SUV) damaged my CM from top to bottom on the left front. Not sure if any internal damage to the intercooler or other stuff, no leaks apparent and I did drive in 50 miles back home.

Surprising, unless you look at it directly and see the broken headlight, you would just shrug and say "that could buff out", I think NOT!

    Sigh!

    Don

Wish to F that folks would use the Damn mirrors when backing big azz Suvs in a small parking lot. She did admit fault and they came back in the store versus running for the hills. Kinda a bless them, damn them thought here!

Sorry to hear that happened. I don't think it will bring down the value if it is fixed correctly

Sorry about your MINI, but good to hear she didn't just drive away. Any accident/repair has the possibility of diminished value, especially if it ends up on your car fax. Unfortunately, you won't know until you sell the car or trade it in. I would expect compensation for diminished value no matter what her insurance company says.

Sorry to hear about your un-involved driver incident.

We were always taught to turn and look behind as we backed up. Now days it's just use the mirrors. Sorry but you can't see enough in just the mirrors. Not to mention most people only use the one on the drivers side. Yes, I've backed many a trailer and have used the mirrors. But you don't have a choice there.

On big SUVs and vans I think the back up cameras make sense.

Wow that sucks. I would definitely expect a diminished value claim. Don't take no for an answer. We did that when my wife's clubman was tboned a month after we got it.

Sorry that happened Don. Glad the SUV driver did the right thing after doing the wrong thing, that is sadly not very common today. I would insist on a diminished value claim. It will show up on a Carfax check & it will lower the value of your MINI. Take your time & find the best body shop in your area. Don't use the insurance companies so called approved shop.

That SUCKS Don. Hard to get past someone else's poor ability to navigate. It'll be all good in the end.

Well, we are unloading this morning in San Diego. Wonderful day out here and looking forward to a fun time this week at Mini Meet West.

Sorry to hear Don. Happened to me last year. Tahoe backed into me dead center front. I'd had the car for 2 weeks. $3300 repair bill resulted in a diminished value claim of $1700.

My day started early. The Grandson and I drove the 85 miles to the Mini dealer to drop the car off for some warranty work. Picked up the loaner and headed to my VA appointment 25 miles away. Got held up long enough to make me miss my appointment at the Apple Store to get my Macbook Pro a colonoscopy. :mad5: Now I'm sitting here waiting until someone gets time to look at my "vintage" machine. Didn't know 2009 was vintage until today. :confused5: Picked up my new Macbook Air okay, but they've gotta get my old one to fire up so I can transfer all my data. I'd like to get the "Vintage" machine working so I can give it to my Grandson. Up until friday it was working as well as a new one.
After all this is done I've gotta call and see if my car will be ready today. :mad2:

Thanks folks, I will let you know how the estimates work out on the CM, noticed today that the sweet lady in her 07 SUV managed to score the PL color matched left front wheel too. Pain in the azz.

Working with Geico, my insurance said work with them, ask the body shop I use about reporting to car fax, it is not mandatory. We shall see! :(

    Pain in the azz.

    :)

It was a couple days ago but the mini performed BETTER than i had thought it would on my 1300 mile road trip to Texas. Comfortable and aside from killing 2 rabbits around Roswell NM at 3 in the morning it was uneventful in the best way. Not having a garage sucks but if there's anyone in the San Antonio area i'd love to hang and go for a drive!

This last weekend my MINI just sat still. I was doing the full exterior detail on the wife's car. She wanted the calipers painter too. I also added the Dave O. wheel treatment.

    She's happy now.

Since last Friday...had the dent I put in the rear quarter panel at the dragon removed by 'Dent Ranger' here in Cinci. A 100% job.:D Can't tell it was ever there. Yesterday, I replaced the rear top molding on my R52. Much easier than I anticipated.
