I love me an R56I agree the CC and Passat aren't what they used to be, they still look better than ol' fish face.

One of these, best looking VW in years IMHO.

Swapped out my AC condenser with out taking the bumper off. I must of caught a rock at just the right spot... if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck...
Does anyone have any idea how much 134a is supposed to go into an r50 from empty? The internet says under a #. I kept doing that and it didn't get cold. I have just under 3 now and not sure it's as cold as it was. :confused5:Attached Files:

Did you pull a vacuum? I have an old refrigerator compressor I use. I hook it up and pull a vacuum several hours sometimes over night before I Add the referent. Also after I pull the vacuum I watch the gages to make sure it does not have a leak.

Your temps right now are pretty normal here, and I have to run my MINI AC pretty aggressively in those temperatures to get the car cooled down. Then I can turn it down a notch. It was 104 today, and my AC was full blast, in MAX (recirculating) mode 100-percent of the time. And, I have the darkest window tint allowed by law.
So, you may just need to wait for more normal weather before you can judge the cooling.

I'm only 8 hours drive time north of you, we'll have a hot spike in early Sept, but then temps will gradually fall....we've had snow as early as October 6th - or not at all!
In the summer we have pretty much the same temps as you - plus monster humidity! If my car has been closed up all day I have to run on Max too, the only time it catches up is if I'm on the highway for an hour or more after it's been parked.....even then I sometimes have to switch back to Max. These A/C s are marginal in our conditions, can't imagine how they work in Phoenix or the central valley of Ca where it gets close to 120* for months on end..... -

So thankful that this is the last real winter I will have to put up with! Not looking forward to driving a minivan to work when the roads turn to shift, but it's better than risking the Bimmer...
It does snow occasionally at the Dragon, but only a couple times a year on average, and it's rare to get more than 4" at a time. [emoji2]

My daughter lives less than an hour from there in Hendersonville, NC - the weather is very nice most of the year, and they rarely get snow that amounts to much.
We thought of moving there, but it's a little spendy for us poor retired folk..... -

Since it was hot and humid as hell today for some reason I though to was a good idea to take the front wheels off my car and check the suspension. Yeah I sweat my a$$ off. Anyhow I looked at my ball joints that are at about 100k and decided to order all new ones. (Inner and outers from Moog)
I also ordered new Akebono rear pads and 280mm rear rotors to go with my all new GP rear suspension which will be going on in the Fall. -
Dave, so you like Moog? I've thought of buying their products, but never heard anything about their quality.
Only thing I did with the MINI today was drive to/from work. Did order some items from CarPro, tho: drying towels, finger mitts, etc. -
Bought extended maintenance program from MINI dealer, 72 m/100k miles..driving from ohio to colorado...crossed indiana and illinois..
