Did the carbon beltline a few weeks ago. . . also installed a Midland radio for club runs.
Been parked for weeks, but got out today for a wash, apply the carbon fiber mirror covers (not wild about the fitment), new club and insta decals, and a drive to clear my head a bit.

Today, I'm planning to clean up and re-seat the supercharger input tube. Now that I have it in service mode, I got a closer look and it appears that the vacuum line to the MAP sensor is not securely connected. I hope this explains the intermittent P1498. So, I'll clean everything and reinstall, making sure everything is tight and seated properly. I really hope this is it as it beats throwing expensive parts at a problem.

(Yesterday) washed car, replaced front
MINI badge that had faded completely
to chrome, and drove on ramps to wipe
some oil off the bottom of the engine from
a previous leaking valve cover gasket and
snugged up the 16 oil pan bolts.
Hopefully the oil won’t return, but if it
does, I stand a better chance at identifying
a source.-

Saturday night I ordered some parts from Outmotoring for my wife's R57. Talked to Aaron this morning to make sure I ordered the correct parts and got an email they will be here tomorrow. Thanks Aaron and Outmotoring!

So far, inital impressions are great. It's no JCW in the performance department, but it's plenty peppy for my daily/grocery-go-getter.
It's feature rich, even more so than our Crosstrek.
Styling, I really like it. Can't wait for my wheels and tires to get here, as I rally dislike the wheels, but that's about it.
SUPER comfy. Seats are well bolstered, and while I wish they offered Leather in the N Line, these again are fine for what I'm doing.
As I get into the nuts and bolts, I'll keep you posted!-

Had Checkers smog done Friday. Passed like usual so now I have to put the cai back on. Wash it yesterday looks great. I have to make time to take it on the road a little more. When the the smog guy checked I had put on a hundred miles since the last time I had the car registration done.

Wasabi is going to get a joyride tomorrow. I feel like all my attention has been on the new daily, which after 2 months of back order, my wheels and tires finally got it...and on.

Everything arrived for the regular service... oil flush, oil (both from LiquiMoly), some oil filters (OEM), plugs (NGK 4-prong - 1 degree colder) and a new supercharger belt (JCW-sized).
Now I just need to find time to get out to do the work.-

Sorry. Haven't had much time to be on here for awhile. Being retired recently, it has been extremely busy doing things I had put aside due to the number of hours I was working. I have been made a moderator of the Vancouver MINI Cooper Club and organizing drives for the MINI clubs here. Recently, we did our Harrison Hot Springs Run and last weekend, we did a run to Squamish.

I didn't do any Mini stuff this week end. I got a muffler for the Exige, I blew the old one out on a track day. I installed it on Friday, my wife and I took it out for a ride. She says she loves the car but hates riding in it. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I may take the Helmet to work. I told my wife I plan on putting the Helmet on BAT but she said keep it. I don't know, now is a good time to sale. If I do depending on what I get I may sale the Exige also and sit on the money till prices come down. If I do that I may just keep the 380sl for now and drive it, it has kind of grown on me.
I took this picture the other day to play around with editing a HDR in BW.

Halfway through a DIY walnut carbon blast with a machine I built ten years ago....
Man am I sore from all the bending over the engine... turning the engine over by hand to close the valves....
Most of my time was spent removing all the hoses and electrical plugs to be able to remove the intake manifold.....
I'll be back at it tomorrow to finish the job....
I'm happy to report my throttle body is completely dry with no oil coating... Long live my turbo...-

Well finally got the new starter in and had the same results. Did a little more research, had a few more ideas to try and it turned out to be the grounding strap on the top engine mount. I had removed it to replace the belt tensioner and it seems I didn’t tighten it down after I put it on by hand. Live and learn.
