Swapped in a new third light brake in the cold and wind during my lunch hour
(only took about 5 minutes, but seemed like longer). The old one had its reflector
fall off and break in 2 and glued back on, and looked enough like crap this year to
finally replace.
I got the Dorman one from Amazon since it's about 1/2 to 2/3 the price of OEM
plus free shipping. Good fit and function. -

At lunch, I went to go shopping (it's raining outside). Opened the door to get in, and *splat*, a giant puddle of water that had gathered on top of my MINI fell onto my seat. I grabbed a solitary paper towel and feebly tried to wipe it dry, sighed, and sat down. Now my a** is wet.
Got some gloves for the kids (I wish they'd stop losing them), and a bunch of stuff for the local boy scout canned food drive. I'm a sucker for do-gooding kids... -

But I will say since my 11 is one of the first in country, the extended has been a blessing if not expensive.
Not sure what is next.
With my $deductible for the warranty work and the extra work I had done, I will get out the door for about $230.
MINIDave, what did your guy pay out of pocket if you know, I would love to know what MINI Schomp charged the warranty work. I guess I could ask.
Anyway, nothing on a MINI is free in the long run.
Don
Btw, the 11 is still down at Schomp I figured it could sit down at the dealer for a few days with the -5 and snow we were loving given yesterday and today. :nonod: -

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the part was only about $68......I'll ask him tomorrow and report back......
I know his total bill came to over $2K, but that included new run flat tires.....and some other work.
His car was also one of the first in the US, delivered in Dec 2010 and has had surprisingly little problem. -

^^^ Minidave, I asked the SA what it would have been out of pocket, he said about $680 with labor etc. So, I am really curious what your guy paid. I did get out the door with my warranty.
Next I found out will be replacing the original MINI battery, with the two days sitting in the dealer lot in sub zero, the car tossed a get me on the lift light and the diagnostic was depleted battery.
The drive home about 60 miles cleared the diagnostic, but I know what I am getting for Christmas and not from the MINI Dealer.
Recommendations?
Thanks, Don

Installed factory lumbar supports in Pepper. REALLY comfortable seats now. It was easy...especially when you are in a friend's shop who has 40 years experience doing interior restorations for show cars.

I installed larger round exhaust tips. Why? Because they came in a purchase of mint MINI driving lights and I figure they will add about 75/80 HP.
I do like the way they look (pic's will follow)...

Savvy the trick is to wear rubber gloves so your hands stay nice and dry while washing. The water is only cold when you get wet.:ihih: -
My poor MINI is still in airport parking, while I sit here in Tulsa not knowing whether I am driving to Kansas or flying to Southern California tomorrow. :mad2:

Thinking about running the 11 down to the Brushless, but it snowed again this morning, just a dusting but now it is melting crap all over the roads. Love Colorado, but I do with it would stay frozen on wash days.
Btw, Minidave, that $587 is better that the $6XX that my Schomp guy quoted and his first set of numbers was over $8XX, so with my last 5 visits I think I have paid for the $4K extended warranty.
I do hope my 16 holds up better but plan on the extended at year almost 4.
