Went down to one of the local MINI dealers (the one where I bought my car from) because I was invited to the new Countryman launch event.
They had free valet parking so I left my car in front of the dealership and the valet said he would get to it later. When I was done, my car was still there. Apparently, he didn't know how to drive a manual transmission
They had hired a valet company and the only one who knew how to drive a standard had left already.
Even though I'm not much of an SUV type of person, I have to admit, the Countryman is pretty nice. Sitting inside, it felt more open than I expected. It felt bigger inside than the Clubman and pretty close to the size of my other car (BMW 5 series). Though it was really smaller inside than the BMW. I will probably take it for a test drive one day.
Also met up with the service manager who wondered why he hadn't seen me in quite awhile (years). I gave him my list of complaints and he said he wanted me back so would address any issues I had and offered me an across the board discount on everything and would meet any shop prices of whomever I bring my car to. Even for parts. -
Took a drive this morning on the backroads to hand over my tax refund money for my summer's home improvement project... new replacement windows for the house. 19 windows to replace all the remaining single pane glass, wooden windows in the house.
The bank account looked amazing for a few weeks anyway. -

Look at it this way.... Money sitting in an old musty / crusty bank isn't doing anything for you... Put it into home improvements and you start reaping the rewards.......

My mini got a new windshield from a local independent glass shop. The technician showed me where the old glass was marked safelite brand. That explains the terrible quality. It was pitted to the extent that while facing direct sunlight, it might as well have been covered in glitter. It was beyond distracting.

My MINI has been seriously neglected these last few weeks. It is safely tucked away in my garage, but it has been mostly ignored. It just goes out for short trips that aren't any fun.

Commuted all week in the R53. All in all a great way to travel twice a day. We had crappy winter road conditions one morning and dry weather the rest of the week. The MINI with its winter tires did great in that slippery sloppy mess, and the rest of the week I got to enjoy the exhaust note of the Stratmosphere cat back as my foot pressed down more often.... :beer

Taking the MINI out today to pick up 5 gal of VP M-1 Meth for the Dragon.

That sounds like a good deal for servicing.

I drove my Mini down to the MINI dealership to get a new air filter and cabin filter for my 09 Clubby.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.......

I went out to the garage and looked at it and smiled.

Fabricated new brackets and reinstalled my front splitter. Swapped from CT XP10 to G-Loc R8 front brake pads (hopefully a little quieter on the street). Swapped my repaired RMW L axle for the spare axle I had in there. Replaced my existing wheel studs with new, longer RMW studs (since my old ones had been through two crashes, and could stand to be longer for the amount of spacer I run up front).
Waiting on Fedex to deliver new Swift Springs from GreenePerformance, to go about halfway between my original spring rates and the experimental super-stiff rates I've been running since last summer. -

I cleaned the bug guts and bird poop off the exterior glass.
Still hopelessly waiting for my new tag so I won't have to worry about getting pulled over by the police for not having one. :cryin:

I was never able to restore my headlight lenses to as clear as I wanted them to be, so I ordered a brand new pair. Got them installed today and they look great!

I have been wet sanding and buffing them out for people for years now and they turn out perfect. -
Had a fun jaunt into work this morning. When are pickup drivers going to learn they simply cannot hang with a little sports car in a corner? Seriously, If I hadn't maintained speed thru the corner he woulda slid right into me and rammed me right into the wall. I took the outside lane as a courtesy and he still f's up. Idiot. I totally get that trucks nowa days are quick,IN A STRAIGHT LINE. Someone send pickup owners that memo.
IN OTHER NEWS-I received a letter in the mail from MINI informing me that the HPFP is covered for 10 years or 120k
It's already been replaced by BMW of North America once. Glad to know it's covered for the next time it takes a s**t. (knocks on wood) Apparently the "fix" they applied to the N18 HPFP wasn't much of a fix at'all :cornut:

Took my R53 to Best motor werks tonight for some maintenance. It's been a long time since I have driven the MINI.
I'm sure I was smiling.
