Not today but a couple of days ago. I was cruising down the highway in the left lane passing cars like picket fence poles, when I spied a Mini up head. As I got closer I saw it was another JCW coupe, this one was dark grey with a red roof. I slowed a little as I went by and gave the guy a wave. He waved back and looked a little surprised to see another coupe. After passing him I looked in my mirror and saw he was catching me. Once next to me I looked over and he was giving me a big thumbs up.

You don't see many coupes where I live and even fewer JCWs

Wheels on is less spectacular due to ordinary wheels ;-)

I wound up kneeling in that cardboard without realizing.. I later looked down at what I thought was a horrendously bloody knee and totally freaked myself out.

Changed the engine oil from Castrol to LiquiMoly and replaced the gearbox fluid with Amsoil.

Dropped her off at the stealership for a little over night diagnostic action (for that whining noise some of yall know about). They'll at least be flushing brake fluid and changing cabin filter :D Here's to nothing too serious.... Or nothing that the extended warranty doesn't cover :beer

Nothing. Played hookie from work to spend the day working on my homeowner DIY project. Rented an 8ft brake from the Home Depot last night, and went on a 22 hour "bender" of sorts.

Got 17 sill caps made up. Enough frame caps done to handle most of my full-sized windows that I have already installed and a head start on the other windows.

I'll still need to rent the brake again... but I'll also need to grab another box of coil stock. Hopefully, my upcoming "staycation" will be productive enough to get my two "living" floors completely swapped out to the new windows, and completely capped off. My attic windows may very well wait till the fall.

I have a 17' Justa as a loaner. Whoever said the 3cyl. turbo is faster than an R56 S is on crack. I'm sure it's faster than all of the previous Justa's, but the auto trans is a joke, the only thing good about it is 1st gear. Serious lag from the time you put the pedal down to the time it'll downshift and go, also a big time lag when shifting from gear to gear on an on ramp/hard acceleration. Another thing I noticed is that the F series has a lot more tail end wiggle when braking hard for a sharp corner, and it's fairly unpredictable in those situations BUT I am sitting on what I think is the base wheels with skinny tyres. Fish face still sucks.

Tire pressures can have a lot to do with the handling. As for the auto, try sport mode....

Just got Bitsy back. Can't beat the feel of an R series with a 6 speed :) I will say the F series does have some nice seats though! :D

So what was your whining sound from the steering?

It wasn't steering, but it sounded like a faint power steering noise, like when the old Chevy would be low on fluid, only it rose and fell with the RPM's and turning the wheel had 0 effect on the noise.
They ran some tests, did multiple start ups and determined that the car is perfectly operational with 0 issues. They didn't hear anything abnormal so when I got there today I started it up, pointed out the noise and apparently the noise I had them look into is normal. One tech brought me over to his MINI and it has the same noise, sooooo, I guess I cried wolf. They told me that the only loudness they noticed was my resirc valve being extremely loud upon cold startup but it's due to my intake amplifying it.
Being an R56 owner, I'm super paranoid if I hear any odd noises that I haven't noticed before.

So far with only three days driving, it is smoother and quieter. The gearbox still clatters a bit, so I think I'm going to HAVE to replace the clutch and throw out bearing, but there is no doubt it shifts smoother and is running better with little valve train noise now.

More as I put miles on it.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
