Today was front brakes for the 2012 Clubman.

What should have been a few hours turned into an entire day due to a rusted on set screw and a self-inflicted rounded off caliper bolt.

I chiseled and ground out the set screw and bought a bolt extractor socket for the other one... worked a treat.

Waiting on new bolts which will arrive tomorrow to finish everything up

To tell you the truth it's not too hard to win my class at the shows. There is not a lot of competition. Most of the cars entered in the new mini class are all newer and bone stock. Very few have any changes to the factory stock. It's a shame that not more of the older cars 2002-2006 don't show up for the shows. There is usually at least 10 or 15 of the classic minis but most of the time there is only maybe four or five in my class.

I bought some belt liner black out. What is on it is coming off. When my son bent one of the rims they were out of the satin black ones so he had to get one that did not match. I found some wheel paint that matches. After I take care of those items it will be time for paint correction. It's getting harder to think of getting rid of it. But someone is going to get a very nice MINI.

Replaced front pads with same G-loc
GS-1 ones yesterday. The rear ones
still have quite a bit of life left.
Didn’t replace the rotors this time
    as they measured 21.6 mm.
    The Zimmerman (not slotted, not
drilled) rotors and the GS-1 pads
make for pretty low rotor wear,
    and the surfaces had minimal
    grooving. The stock rotors with
the stock pads eat up the rotors
much faster and don’t last for 2
    sets of pads.

I had the A/C bearing issue fixed under warranty. Then I enjoyed my 28.5 mile commute to work.

Now, if you asked what I did on Sunday then: I went tracking at Willow Springs International Raceway and set a new personal best record. :cornut:

    Got some new wheels.

Got some new wheels. Drag R-19's 17'' a cheaper version of the mini r90's which are 3,400. Drags were less than 2 grand with tires.

appliances...they drive appliances. We drive cars. You can usually see that they are appliance drivers just by the amount of nasty brake dust that they have on their front wheels...the dirty windows...the bumper sticker that they plastered on their trunk lid (crooked and peeling up on the edges):mad5:...I'm done now and feel better too:aureola:

After razzing me all week about the flamin' recall, today my boss asked me to give him a lift across town. I said sure. After getting on the road I reached behind the seat and produced a fire extinguisher. Told him to hold on to it an to be ready to jump out quickly.

I didn't do anything with mine. He's sitting in the garage all cleaned up and waiting for his new owner to pick him up on Friday. CHKMINI III is sitting at Dreyer Reinbold MINI in Indy waiting on an old Silverback to adopt him next week! I tried to tell the Sales manager at MAG MINI in Columbus that I would buy elsewhere....he didn't believe me. They definately GET IT in Indy!!!

Took advantage of the incredible weather and took the MINI out for an Italian Tune Up.

We also met a local Law Enforcement Officer that didn't think my idea of fun jived with his. His lack of radar saved me from a Certificate of Velocital Achievement.
