My grandfather had a 1936 Mercedes Benz 540K touring car. My dad said it was in the garage on blocks during the war. After the war he sold the Mercedes and got a 1948 Lagonda Rapide.

That 540K would be worth some serious coin, today. Too bad you don't have it.

Over the last 2 days I managed to get my MINI full of salt........ I thought I moved away from the Great North to avoid this crap. Saturday she'll be getting a MUCH needed pass thru a car wash to rinse out her crevices. So much for having a Florida car

You can remove ceramic coatings. You have to use a buffer with a rather aggressive compound like HD Cut and a soft polishing pad like a Rupes white pad and not a Rupes Yellow or or Green or a Lake County Orange cutting pad.

If I did your car I would need it for a few days one to completely wash and polish the car then a day or two to keep it inside while the coating cures under my lights. The car can not get wet for first 24 hours and not be washed for a week. That’s why I do not do coatings for people at the Dragon.

Gassed up the 11 Countryman on Saturday, it was about 60 degrees out, guess I have nowhere to go today as we are at 4 inches of new snow and 28 degrees today.

The MINIs will be fine in the garage, not dirty but a bit dusty, my 16 Countryman is blocked by the snowblower anyway! :) :)

    Have a great day.

I was planning to get my MINI washed today, but ran out of time. It is really dirty from the sand (dirt) TXDOT spread on the bridges and overpasses last week for ice. Heavy rains yesterday washed most of that stuff off the road. Time for a good wash.

Goldsmithy, I'm 56-years-old and white, living in the Texas burbs, so I never get pulled over. I could more-than-likely get away with no front plate. And, the fine is not that big of a deal. But, making it a misdemeanor changes things. I could probably do a deferred adjudication deal in court, but that is a PITA, too.

I think that is what I am going to do. Just ordered new stock tensioner, coming with the idler pulley too. I'll get that belt too. I have the K060535 at the moment. I think the Alta tensioner stop was tightened out too much and was maybe affecting the performance too. Thanks for the advice!!

Can you see the rubber without pulling the crank pulley. Just from visually looking at it, it looks good. No cracks that I can see

Yes if the front of it looks in good shape it should be fine. What happens is as the rubber between the inner and outer half gets old it starts to crack. Then the pulley comes apart. This has a bad effect at high RPMs.

I noticed yesterday that I had a license plate light out, so I got a new one. What a PITA to replace. You need a special tool, or Trump sized hands to put the new bulb in. It took me 15 minutes and a lot of cursing to get the new bulb in right.

Yeah, and the SOTU on Tuesday had the highest ratings EVER.

It took me ten seconds to figure out HOW to do it, without instructions. The rest of the time was wasted because someone made something simple difficult... just like a Republican.

Thanks for the tip, but I paid four bucks for the stock replacement. When it comes to license plate lights, I just want my car to be legal. An $18.50 license plate light is VERY Republican -- the military would probably pay $918.50 each for those license plate lights.

I find the LED replacement tag lights to be too bright. I turned mine in on an angle to cut down the bright-ness.

I tried led ones on mine. They flickered a lot. Are there certain ones that will not flicker?

Si. Always get CANBUS bulbs. Also note that if you get LED's in place of incandescent bulbs, unless you disable the bulb check via Carly or the like, your bulbs will flash X amount of times after you start your engine. I disabled all bulb check systems to get away from the flashing after start up.
