Real bummer. Let us know how that insurance thing plays out. I am about to visit an agent to negotiate a better deal than I am getting with my current insurance that has become complacent about my business and is raising rates again.

Nothing done to my Minis in a week, other than Dark Silver rolled out of storage to get ready for the summer. Oh, I did buy a steam cleaner, something I always wanted to use on hard to clean spots under the hood and inside the car. And a shop vac, since I am about to make a mess again when dropping the subframe on the daily driver.

    This actually happened yesterday afternoon.
Couldn't find a rental car locally today (except a Silverado pickup which I passed on) but have something lined up first thing tomorrow morning.
Adjuster looks at my Bliksem tomorrow and will get back to me then or Friday.

Sooo000 last night was driving home in super heavy stop start traffic, and after about an hour of this was finally able to get to a turn that would free me of it.

Being somewhat frustrated, I pu the car in Sport Mode, and as soon as the light turned green, launched the car through the intersection.... and suddenly was running on two cylinders.

I stopped the car, turned it off and on again, did a quick ODB check and 1 and 3 were not firing.

I got the car home (it was less than a mile at this point) and decided to deal with it this morning. I started pulling the coils and checking the plugs, and was able to get three of four removed. I spent an hour trying to remove the coil on Number 2 out, and it wouldn’t budge. I fought and fought, and finally gave up. I decided then to start the car again to see what’s up, and Lo And Behold!

    1 and 3 are firing, and now 2 isn’t.

I have an old but mostly good set of coils and plugs that I could use for troubleshooting, but since 2 is apparently broken, and won’t come out, I’ve taken the car to the closest Euro garage (again about a mile away).

    So yeah.

    Good Morning!

So yeah, your day was worse than mine by a long shot. :(

    Best of luck!

If it is the other guy's fault, I hope you got out of the car holding your neck. Im not suggesting "fraud to get rich," but having some bargaining power with the other guy's insurance company is good to have. You deserve to have your car replaced by one like it. The other guy's insurance company wants to give you what the lowest value R53 is worth.

The other guy's insurance company just wants to settle the claim for as little as possible. They don't care about all the upgrades you did to your car. They do care if you go to your doctor with neck and/or back pain.

If all you want to do is replace what you lost, I don't see anything wrong with using any leverage you can get to achieve that.

Cool, I finally made it into RM for the first time last year. My Sat schedule is usually drive to the Italiano, walk around Ocean Drive after, then hit Exotics on Cannery Row, dinner, hang out in front of RM to check out the car staging, then Cibo or the Mucky Duck, then drive back.

Not crazy enough to pay $200-250 a night for a 1 Star or Motel 6 so it becomes a long 20 hour day :Dead:

My regular dinner spot before Saturday night at RM is the Crown and Anchor pub near Portola Plaza. And, yes, I pay $250-plus per night to stay in a "modest" hotel room in or close to Monterey. I generally share a room with a really close friend, and we are only there to sleep.

We get into all of the events for free, so the hotel is the biggest expense. I generally fly to LA, and we either drive his 1972 Porsche up to Monterey for the weekend, or we drive a press car, usually something from the Dodge SRT family. We have to pay for the gas... second biggest expense.

A couple of times, we have driven back to LA down the PCH. Once in my friend's 72 Porsche, and once in a Jeep Grand
Cherokee SRT8 - 6.1 litre hemi. The Porsche was a blast to dive on the PCH. The Jeep SRT8 was fun, but there were some butt-puckering moments.

Yep, the Crown and Anchor is our usual spot downtown if we don’t grab something on Cannery Row before heading over. It’s just a little scary thinking about having to get out of there quickly in an emergency. :Nailbiting:

I like one click to open the driver's door and two to open the others, it offers a little more security.

My bad man. Didn't see the signature part. What I want to do is turn these damn daytime running lights off. I tried that BMW Standard tools thing. I think I was missing the date thing too though. I have INPA working though. I had reset my adaptations and cleared the memory when I had the P2096 code a while back. Been doing pretty good since then too. I'll keep messing with it till I get ncs expert figured out. Thanks man!

DOH? Dallas. I was answering a question from a member from DFW.

You are welcome to come next year, Dave, but I don't know if it would be worth your drive time. ;):D
