I don’t know but wish someone would answer.

Post a pic.. my gut says that rod maybe the tensioner for the blow off.. but mine is a forge.. and I don’t know the factory.. but I do have a Bentley manual so can look it up.

It is, you should still have that rod (I think). It's the rod connecting to that valve to the exhaust side of the turbo on the front side below it (facing you as you're looking at the engine from the front).

Is that an oil patch on the ground behind the Forester? -
Oh, I saw a white R53 with a red roof in Plano, Texas on Friday. It was definitely modded... the suspension at least. It also had a Manic decal on the back of it. I can't help wondering if it is someone on MA that owns it.

Will do, once it’s out of the shop - Some idiot went out of their way to hit me in an empty parking lot, drag their minivan down the driver’s side rear quarter panel while shoving me 2 feet to the left (I was not in the car) go over a barrier into a sidewalk, leave skids on said sidewalk, then go back over the barrier again into the parking lot and leave through the gate.
Luckilly the damage wasn’t severe, since it was a slow long impact, and insurance is covering it, but sadly we weren’t able to get the license of the idiot who did it.

P2402 code several times in the last week
(Evap Emissions leak detector pump control circuit high)
Comes back after a while after clearing the code a few times now.
Gas cap recently replaced and is sealing ok.
Checked out the hose connections to the pump and the charcoal canister and the electrical connection to the pump.
The latter doesn’t click in well and might not have been making a full connection.
Will see if the code comes back again.
Have the Bosch brand of the dmtl pump ordered as it’s not very expensive.
