Speaking of trouble free trip to the Dragon, did you ever get a different expansion tank?

What 'tune' did you have? I am not an expert but I have read of a lot of tunes hurting engins. Keep us posted. I wish you a lot of luck with this problem.

If a tune is done wrong it could burn valves. But twice that fast? I would think it would take a piston with it too. I can't help but wonder if the dealer did the job right or cut corners. Like @Goldsmithy said what tune do you have, also what other mods do you have?

That's the one I'm talking about, I remember Colin is the one who noticed that under load the engine was bumping into the coil/plug boot and something was shorting out. Just wondered if you put a smaller one on since the Dragon this year.

Filled her up on the way to the city this AM. Got to whiteness an attempted car jacking of a new Infinity coupe, complete with a pistol in hand and everything. Luckily the lady was smart and locked her doors when filling up. The would be robber got back into the car he got out of and they took off quietly. Was kinda insane to see, I just stood there staring at him. Then I grabbed my fob out the car and locked my doors :)

Engine mount number 3 has leaked. They seem to last 4 to 5 years. Good thing they are not all that expensive.

I had a couple of those replaced on my R53. Figured it was just part of the cost of having such a fun car.

What they're telling me is that they put a scope in there and the #3 cylinder is filled with oil. They suggest probably broken rings and/or damaged cylinder wall. No sign of valve problems, although impossible to 100% confirm any of this without pulling the head I suppose.

At least you now have a good idea of what the problem is or has been.

Yeah that sucks. If your doing a set of rings for #3 you should have all 4 done.

That's a bummer... If you do decide to fix it...look for someone else to do the work. I would not trust these guys based on their past performance. After installing the valves they should have done a compression test to make sure everything was up to snuff, and then a leak down test if they found any problems. Let us know the outcome. I wish you the best...

Yeah, you guys are getting a butt-kicking. It just missed us -- just cold and rainy in Dallas.

I'm on my way to California right now (in-flight wifi). I'll think about you in my short sleeves. ;)

My MINI is at DFW airport right now, where it has been for most of December. It will need a spa treatment when I get home -- whenever that is.
