Just turned 170 k miles on my S today...hoping to get to 200 k miles before I'm done [in the next 3-4 years.
My younger son called today. He said the guy that wants his truck is buying it next weekend. He is going to drop it at the guys house and fly home and buy the Helmet from me. I am really going to miss that car. It really is special. But my son takes care of his stuff. He had his mustang 5 or 6 years and it looked as good as the day we bought it. I remember the first time he saw the Helmet. It was on the donut run at the dragon. He talked about it for a long time. That was years before I bought it from Mark. So it will be going to someone that loves the car and will drive it. I just don’t get to drive it much so it just sits. And that is a shame.
Always liked the ‘original’ but nice ones are becoming pricey and as I’ve gotten older I enjoy ac in the hot and humid months.
I've had both ,but as you get older the classic's ride kind of stiff and hard on the back. Mine was a 66.
There will be a Krispy Kreme Doughnut run tonight in the Vancouver BC Canada area. If you are in the Pacific Northwest and make it across the border to the Great White North, we will be meeting at 6:30pm at Krispy Kreme (there is only one here). Since many people are driving around in the cold temperatures with their check engine lights on, I'm bring my scan gauge to do basic code scans and possible resets for those where they are just frozen sensor failures. Pictures to be posted at a later date.
Before the young lad takes the Helmet and rides east I decided to put new pads and rotors on the car. I called Detroit Tuned. As always they are great to work with. They have already shipped my order. Hawk pads and slotted rotors front and back.
Went out kart racing with the Chicago MINI Motoring Club and then a stop at a local hot-dog place Here's a link to more pics and videos https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720305803474
A newer Gen 2 or 3 Countryman was released in GTA V on-line last week... I bought one and had some fun with it in the custom mod shop, getting a pretty good reproduction of Rufus, my 2005 JCW.
I've now got a pretty good version of Rufus and I've built out a Porsche Cayman that looks a lot like my previous car, so I'm good! I'm sure I could find something like my wife's A6, but the other 2 cars are more fun. To be honest, I was amazed when I found painted arch options and a pretty good match to my wheels.
Thanks! That particular photo was just after I had about 1/2 of the body panels PDR'd, de-rusted and repainted, plus about 5-6 hours of polishing and 3 layers of a ceramic coating. The paintwork looked almost unreal.
I have driven GIR to work all this week, the weather has been great. Someone in the office made a comment on how the broken old guys drive nice cars. So I went out and took a group shot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
