As one door closes another opens ….. now you can get that first generation JCW / GP you’ve always wanted.
But for now no new cars on the horizon. My wife still has her Mini. I have a few more things to do to the 380SL then I need to sale it, the plan from the beginning. The problem is I really like the car. Then there is the lotus. I have a few small parts left to get, then I can finish the final tweaks on the tune. I need to finish it before spring. With any luck it will be done and I can meet my son at the Dragon. Maybe around the time of MOTD. Long term I think it would be fun to get an R53 put a TVS SC in it and an ECU masters ECU. they have one for the R53. But to do that I need to get rid of a SL.
I have a few more things to do to the 380SL then I need to sale it. What year is the SL? We use to have an 84 380.(wife's car as usual)
It's an 85. white with blue interior. the soft top is blue also. the top has a couple holes from being folded too long. They are nice cars. I would love to keep it. I wish the roof was not so heavy, makes it a pain to get off.
All very nice rides but the MINI modify bug can lay dormant for only so long before the urge just becomes to powerful to resist.
At the time we owned it I worked for an MB dealer so it was in really good shape. I had a hoist in the roof of the garage so the roof was easy to take off. Ours was beer bottle brown with tan interior.
We are getting some unseasonably warm weather for February so I checked all the fluids to make sure that I’ll be good to go.
Warm in Chicagoland also.. so today was a wash the salt off the MINI day, plus a motorcycle ride, and a drive in my Sunbeam Alpine and a drive in a friend's Triumph Herald (car). Now I am ready for a nap before the big Lincoln's Birthday party this evening..
Thinking ahead to spring.. New tires for my "summer" wheels installed today. I managed to get 4 wheels and tires plus 4 more tires to fit in my MINI. Still at least another month till I can get them on the car.. maybe longer
Thinking of getting some new tires. The ones I have are not that old (maybe 2000k on them) but I want a little more grip. I'll put them on the other set of rims and put the new ones on the dynamic pro rims ( Pilot Sport Cup2 225x45x17) that should work.
Dam now I started something. I been surfing the internet on tires. What a mistake. Now I am looking at Nitto NT01,KumhoECSTA V730, TOYO Proxes R888R. That's what I get.
Life was so simple back in the dark ages when there was no internet and as I just went through the tire search hell a month ago when buying for my wife’s Traverse so I can feel your angst. I wish I could offer some first hand info on your choices but I can’t as the best performance tires I have are the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 which were on the GP when I bought it.
