No work on the MINI, but I had a bit of fun with a new-to-me lawn mower.. Thought it would look good with a bit of paint. It doesn't quite have go-kart handling, but it does have a go-kart engine.
Attended the 2023 All British Field Meet (ABFM) at Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver BC. That Lotus Emira seems reasonably priced. Here is a link to my Flickr Album of the event. There were even a couple of Right hand drive MINIs there. Of note, there were no R56 gen MINIs in the show. https://www.flickr.com/photos/beken/albums/72177720308460305
Great photos !! Looks like a nice way to spend an afternoon seeing cars from yesteryear through today.
Spent yesterday cleaning GIR. He got a really good washing and a chemical and physical paint decon. I got few little things polished. Next is the roof. I am going to attempt a light compound and polishing. The roof and body edges have taken the hardest hit over the years.
Well I went down to get Checkers smog. As I thought it passed everything but the visual. This is the first time I have ever had them put it on a rack. Most smog station don't have a rack so looking from the top everything is good. So now I'm looking to get a other exhaust header and cat. I have the original cat on the car but with the header it's 3 inches farther back than factory. Oh well back to the drawing board. At least I have 2 months to find what I need.
I guess then they put it on the rack they must have measured it somehow. Who knows. I'm looking for a stock system then I'll have just about 2 of everything.
Spent most of last weekend working on GIR's paint. I have never used a DA before, it has always been elbow grease. It was definitely faster but still took most of the weekend. I do need to go back and clean up the wheel arches though. Little white specks of polish found their way to them. I worked on it for a bit last night with little success. Almost tempted to try putting another coat of Plasti Dip on them. Trying to come up with a way not to have to put tape on the paint I just finished. Other than that I think he looks pretty good.
3 inches? Not passing you has nothing to do with smog control. This is people control. Sorry you have to put up with that BS
Thanks. The thing that really gets to me is Checkers pass the smog test. The tail pipe is good and so is the ECU. My header broke so I made one of my own. It has the stock cat so I really don't see a problem but that's the way it is. I'll find a stock header, have it installed, take the check put my old unit back on and go to a different smog shop.
I live out in the boons. I pay for my tags and registration on line and they're mailed to me. I guess they just want the money.
If I'm going to do any paint correction on Skooby I will treat the plastic bits with Prima Nero before hand. That way any spots that find their way on the plastic trim come off pretty easily. I hate taping them up too.
We do too but we have to have cars e-checked every other year until they reach the ripe old age of 25.
I taped the edges so the DA wouldn’t touch, it’s the “material exiting the pad” that I wasn’t accounting for. While I was cleaning up last night I was thinking same thing, coat them with something next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
