I'm trying a new one called Akebono. I didn't need them but these are suppose to help with brake dust. Their ceramic pads.
Washed the garage dust of the Countryman today or at least my sweet wife did . She did this while taking the pup for a long walk on a hot day. So I suggest a wash to help them cool off. The CM is running well after the 4K fix, no oil leaks from the cranshaft front seal or the oil pipe thru the feed on the side of the 1.6 block. Anyway, keeping the 92k 2011 CM for a bit longer. All stay healthy and take care. Don
Great pads, I used them as my replacement pads on the 2007 MCS after I burnt up the race pads when tracking the MINI. They work well and are pretty dustless.
I've also used those and other ceramic pads.. They typically have a bit less initial braking bite than stock pads but tons less dust.. and the dust it does leave is lighter gray color compared to dark stock. Much nicer for white wheels on a street car.
Went to retiree breakfast, ran some errands and rewarded the MINI with a top tier fill up of 93 octane gas.
Weather forecast called for a nice sunny day today... Did some checks on the MINI... Tire Pressure, Oil Level, Coolant, Fuel gauge... Check, Check and more checks... Grabbed my sweetie and drove 1-1/2 hours east to Zanesville Ohio, for lunch. All back roads driving... Managed to beat the lunch crowd... One of the perks of retirement... Lunch by the river... Thirsty but thought it was Tuesday... IDK She had the crab cake and shrimps with a side of Mac & Cheese... I had the grilled Walleye Rubin... It was a great day to be out and about in the MINI...
Will I see my luck is still holding. I was told today the brake pads are wrong for my car (I have JCW brakes) and the header pipe is ok, but the pipe just behind that needs to be made because the headers are different lengths. I call the parts house and got the right ones ordered over night and went to a muffler shop to got a pipe custom make. Other than having the car towed to the muffler shop maybe some time next week Checkers will be back home. I hope !!
I picked up Checkers this morning and took it to the muffler shop to have the header pipe replaced. Like I said earlier. It's hard to find a good shop. I remember when I could tall them what I wanted, drop my car off and it would get done in a reasonable time. If I don't care how long it takes this shop it's ok. The work seems to be fine, but right now I do not. Sorry about crying in my beer.
Well here’s hoping that when you pick up Checkers in a few days and everything is ship shape. All this angst will be forgotten when you breeze through your smog inspection and drive some of your favorite roads.
Thank god I pay good. I think I'm driving the shop crazy. I want what I want. All I ask is do it right the first time. Take as much time as you need to do that. The muffler shop is doing a good job.
Understandable as you have put a lot of sweat equity and hard earned money into making it a great looking car.
Well I'm picking up Checkers today and going back to the smog shop for the retest. That 02 sensor being 3 inches off only ran about $2500.00.
